I wanted to add Kaspersky is pretty happy with the game too and didn't report anything. And as TAGES DRM behavior is pretty similar to trojans and I am not expecting Atari or GOG to distribute viruses to their customers, I think its pretty safe to assume its a false positive for other AVs.

ekj7: Avast doesn't identify this as a virus. I've been pretty happy with Avast. Very few false positives, and easy to whitelist a file.

On a side note, some of these publishers are starting to get on my nerves. Seriously, you didn't keep an unprotected version of the game files somewhere? You force companies like GoG to use scene cracks to release an unprotected version of the game? I'm going to start noting down which companies do this, and remind myself not to buy their games until they're released in budget form, with DRM removed, if I buy them at all.
Avast doesn't treat the file as a virus/malware?

Whoops! Same dvm.dll problem here too. what's the solution, only to allow in MSE and then re-install?

EDIT: Solved. i just re-installed over the existing installation. it took only a few seconds and now it works somehow.

Is it hard to ask for this game to have 0 traces of TAGES in there?
That it's still in there is not exactly desirable.

Windows Defender in 8x64 let it play and install in admin mode no issues, no flags at all...

Microsoft SE quarantines it instantly on install but you can go in there and release it from quarantine. I put the folder it's in on my MSE whitelist to prevent any future issues.

I agree with this. If TAGES is inactive, but still causes antivirus issues, what's the point keeping it in game files ? Flush it !

Tages is fully alive inside darkathena.exe. Nobody seems to have an unprotected exe. Nobody likes to recompile it/ can't recompile it/ ...

I have installed the game, with putting Riddick's path in my antivirus exceptions, and I haven't seen anything from TAGES. So it's OK for me.

I recently re-installed this game on my fresh OS install and found a tages folder created with a game key inside otherwise. Nothing.

No, it's the GOG version. I have the same thing in ProgramData/Tages folder. There is only a text file with serial in it though.

The TAGES code is still there, but its been deactivated. However it still rears its nasty head when it comes to running the game in HDMI.
