I tried to run Call to Power II on Linux with Lutris via Wine, which doesn't work after being at the main menu. Is there a way to get it running on dosbox? Or is this game to new? On what do I have to look to know if a game is worth trying in DOSbox?

This is a Windows game, and the only way you'll get it running under dosbox is if you can get a sufficiently new version of WIndows running on dosbox. I have seen people saying they can run Windows 98, so maybe that's good enough. Good luck finding a legal, working copy.

You'd probably be better off looking for a source port that actually works. I haven't done so in a whole, and the versions I have seen have broken movies at the very least, but years have passed and maybe you'll have better luck.

Are you refering to this?

seems complicated to install :/

Yes, something like that. There are several out there. As far as I know, none of them work, but like I said, I last checked years ago. The game works fine for me under wine, and I'm not playing it right now, so I don't have a big incentive to go looking again. See also this thread.
It worked for me in wine last time I checked, so perhaps using a newer version of wine in a clean prefix will help you.

I can confirm this, C2P2 absolutely runs in a nice prefix.
