Just saying thanks for the great util :]
@ McTecman
Can you make a launcher for Duke Nukem 3D and Redneck Rampage ?
avatar
morhlis: Yup, especially since it works fine for me on both my desktop and my laptop (installed from my own downloads) as well as all the people I've talked to except for one (and now you).
You could try the following, it's just an idea:
* Open up Games/dosboxBlood_twoafa.conf
* Change "BMOUSE.EXE LAUNCH blood.exe -ini TWoAF-A.BLD" to "BMOUSE.EXE LAUNCH blood.exe -ini TWoAF-A.ini" without the quotes, obviously.
* Go to Games\TWoAFa\ and make a copy of the file TWoAF-A.BLD, and then rename it to TWoAF-A.ini.
I'm really not sure why this would help, but hey, it's worth a try - the extension is the only difference from the other files that I can remember, for some reason they just gave their ini file a wacky and different extension.
Another possible solution would be to
* make a back up of the file Blood.ini inside Games\TWoAFa\ (rename it to something like blood_ini.backup),
* making a copy of and then renaming TWoAF-A.BLD into Blood.ini,
* then setting the launch line as "BMOUSE.EXE LAUNCH blood.exe" in Games/dosboxBlood_twoafa.conf
Please let me know if any of these helped! I can't test them because the current set up works for me. :(
edit: Oh crap, yeah, Bloodlines is definitely broken in the Release version. :( When I get back to my desktop I'll fix this. Ugh.
edit 2: Thank god I had the mod source files on my Laptop. To fix the Bloodlines missing textures issue: http://www.nanoaugur.net/blood/One_Unit_Whole_Mods_Patch_0.9.6.rar
Once all the smaller bugs are discovered I'll be making one unified patch, as well as a new version of the entire package for new people. Apologies for the annoying patches.
Please, if you discover any more bugs, do let me know!

McTecman: I'm getting the same problem too - everything else works fine. Have tried both these solutions with no luck.
Great job, though, thanks! BTW - any chance of adding a difficulty select for launching the level warp screen?
EDIT: Figured it out! Turns out bmouse.exe wasn't in the TWoAFa directory so it couldn't launch. Copied it over and works fine now!

Portend: The only thing missing in this is a general chat channel for people to sit, chat, and request multiplayer games.
Great interface, McTecman.

He's right!
Add an irc connection to #gog on quakenet.org %}

3pidemiC: Alright. I've fixed my launching issue. But how come the game runs so poorly at high resolutions and it doesn't save resolution changes either? Also, where are the FMVs?

Did you move the files game.gog and game.inst (and overwrite the existing game.inst) to \Games\CDMount\ like I asked people to do in install.txt? Since the FMVs are saved inside game.gog, which is like a .bin file (game.inst is both a cue and a playlist file), you need to move the file to where I specified so all the games and mods can access it, not just Blood and Cryptic Passage.
If you're using the game.inst file I provided in the loader, you only get the playlist portion of it and the (fixed) soundtrack. So you need to overwrite it with the original version that came with the game (so it loads game.gog again).
The only other reason for them not loading would be a problem in the selected renderer, but I've never encountered that and I've tried all the options (even the ones that made my window in funky colors) and the FMVs always played...
Sorry this is being a pain for you, and again sorry for being kinda late with the answer. :(
Also, you may need to do this:
1) The videos play at only a quarter of the resolution!
A: Open /Games/dosboxBlood.conf, change scaler=none to scaler=normal2x - that fixes the stretch.

avatar
Sebek: ...this lags more than the original (without the launcher i mean)

Not sure why, are you using the same renderer as in the original? Because I've allocated more than enough memory in Dosbox, and the resolution is set to the same value...
avatar
Sebek: the screen is too bright

Bring the Gamma down ingame, the option for it is under Options.
avatar
Sebek: and the mouse is super fast

Open up /Games/dosboxBlood.conf and look for the line sensitivity=100, change that to something lower and keep trying it out until you like the speed.

Hi there!
I'm having problems with starting the preconfigured Mod's for Blood
(like bloodlines, bloody pulp fiction, etc.)
When I click on them to start the dosbox-window opens up, but then immedialety shuts down.
The regular Blood just runs fine, without any problems....so I can't figure why the mods wouldn't start.
Any recommendations?
(btw, I'm running on Windows7, tried XP compatibility and Admin-mode)

Hi! First off, did you follow the install instructions correctly? I didn't the first time and what happened to you happened to me.
As the install instructions state you have to put a fresh copy of the GoG.com version of blood into each of the file folders inside your launcher directory. If you are asked if you want to overwrite anything you MUST say no. Saying yes to overwriting any file (except you blood config file that has all your control options) will brake the mod and make it unable to play.
Also, I'm playing through Bloodlines and am in the basement of the bank. I've entered the combination for the vault but nothing happens. Anyone else get this issue? Anyone know what to do?

Well....ummm...
I just did Copy the Blood-Gog-folder into the Blood-Folder.
Just tried copying it into the Mod-folders and there! It works :)
Maybe i should have read it more carefully ;)
Thanks for your help!
So, I tried to make a separate thread about the best mods and maps but I might as well keep it here since this is where the mods and maps come from.
So, Bloodlines is simply awesome. You go into A SILENT BLACK AND WHIT MOVIE in one of the levels! In another you get to go into famous paintings by different artists. Its simply amazing.
But have any of you tried some of the individual maps? I haven't really got into them yet. I wanted to know if there are any good single player maps. So if you run across any post them here!

McTecman: http://blood.nanoaugur.net/ - Just Add Blood!

this launcher is GREAT, just one point, you fixed the music issue but now it plays a lot louder, almost covering the normal soundfx, and even if you set the music volume lower in-game it doesn't change, would you adjust the ogg volumes in the next release?
avatar
McTecman: ...

I really have no idea whatsoever which MOD should I try, and so, if you played the all, could you please give us a quick description while hovering over them in launcher? I know I could probly go mod by mod and read their readmes one by one, but couldn't you copy short descriptions from readme or written by yourself into some kind of help bubbles?
Just suggesting, I know it would pretty much be a lot of kinda useless work :D
Thanks, it's an idea I've toyed with but was not sure how to present. The mod page was in the initial design which was essentially my private Steam .exe hookup for "My Blood Stuff", before I even thought of releasing this, so I didn't think too much on the mods' presentation at the time. You think just short passages would cut it?
Later I was pondering if adding "readme" icons to each mod that would launch the mod's readme (if it had one, otherwise one would be provided after playing the mod and writing down a short bit on it), or perhaps making two pages (Larger and Smaller mods, with a section on the page meant for short info - either pure text or with a screenshot).
If I won't find a good solution of expanding this, I'll just do "help bubbles", those are pretty easy - but they can't be too lengthy. I'll test it out a bit. :) Thanks for the input!

If people think it's too loud, the files can be adjusted, sure. Sorry, I usually play with headphones and am pretty used to loud music in my games, so I'm not the most objective person on this issue. :)

I love the idea of a short description or even a readme link. It would certainly help in knowing a bit more about the mods you're planning on playing.

Well yeah, a short description of story and adding what it actually is, like TC or a few maps mashed together, it might be nice to know in which areas given mod stands out as well. Readme link would probably be just enough thou.

Heh actually, loud music is a great thing, Blood's music really stands out by it's creepiness factor. I am playing with headphones as well, there's no better way to get a completely immersive surround sound :D
Why does the Blood volume setting not work anyway?
McTecman, I've noticed that there are some texture problems with Bloody Pulp Fiction. I just wanted to know if it was just me or if you had heard anything else about it. I figured since you fixed the first texture problem I had with one of your patches maybe this one needs fixing as well. If its just me I'll try something else.
Edit 5/11/10 -
I tried reinstalling the folder from the original launcher files. I also looked up the mod and tried using the files it came with. No luck. Just wanted to let you know I did try on my own.
