Happy to admit I was wrong (though I stand by justification in my doubts, given the history of disappointment every time something similar to this got talked about previously).
Also, even though it's essentially something we all knew Kaiser was doing anyway, it's good to know that it's what he'll presumably be focusing on (or has focused on) since they released Forsaken. Now, if only PowerSlave would be the next thing to come out of the pipe...

Don't mean to shoot your hopes down, but this will be running on a completely different engine (same engine as Doom 64 and Turok etc remasters), so it won't support any of the existing Blood mods such as the very popular Death Wish campaign. From the end user stand point you're not getting anything that BloodGDX doesn't already do, in fact you're getting way less. It's cool that Blood is getting more mainstream attention though.

Let's wait and see what and when they deliver. Blood is not water and it deserves some love as well ... at long last!

Yeah, let me repost this here just in case.
SVKaiser says on his Twitter that the game will use all original assets unlike his other EX ports which had everything converted to new formats. This should allow backwards compatibility with mods such as Death Wish, I guess.

Could somebody tell me more about that KEX engine?
I don't understand why Nightdive are going to transfer the game to some self-made engine, if they have an official approval from Atari to make this remaster and Jace Hall still has the original source code?
Why they can't make something like Megaton or Shadow Warrior Redux (both are based on the original source codes, AFAIK)?

It may have something to do with the fact that Atari doesn't actually own the code. From what I've heard, the rights to the code itself actually belong to WB.Why they can't make something like Megaton or Shadow Warrior Redux (both are based on the original source codes, AFAIK)?

Is it confirmed that they own the IP though? Because if they did, I don't think we would be seeing this remaster. Or at least it would be published by WB and not Atari. From what I remember, the biggest problem was always Atari, and I can see why. They are a walking corpse of a company, and their IPs are their only source of income (similar to Interplay these days). But now they may be simply more desperate, as seen by them selling the rights to Alone in the Dark.

TheBigCore: Even worse, anytime anyone asks WB to sell the IP rights, which also include the Blood souce code, WB charges some ridiculous price for it. Both Devolver Digital and NightDive wouldn't pay for it, so Blood stays closed source.

To be honest, that's all I know. If you want to ask on Eduke32's forums, register there and ask them.

Samuel Villareal (aka Kaiser, creator of the KEX engine and currently employed by Night Dive) had been working on a KEX engine port of Blood off and on for a time, stopping only when work that he was under contract for (I assume things like Turok and Turok 2, Forsaken, etc.) became a high priority to finish over a project that he was (potentially) going to end up releasing somewhat similar to how he went about things with Doom64 EX.
It's possible that he spent time similar to what Makarov did with reverse engineering some parts of the game and since Night Dive finally got Atari to agree to something, it seems likely that he was just able to use what he had and continue on from there in moving the game to his engine from Build.
If you're still curious about this, you can try contacting him through Twitter (@SVKaiser).

I was more interested in the legal aspect of the work instead of the technical one ;-).
What I mean is, even if this is reverse engineered (from what I've read - it is), then still, WB had to give some form of approval for this. Otherwise, this project may end up not coming to fruition because of WB lawyers.
