WOOOT some news XD

http://gamingeverything.com/23059/ancel-on-beyond-good-evil-2-ambitious-big-cities-and-environments-and-more/

This is why we must wait :3..

“It’s a very personal project. It’s something I’d love to finish and to do. Unfortunately, we need a lot of time to make it. It’s not the kind of game where you’re working on it as a ‘main thing’. There’s a mix of research that we’re doing in 3D. It’s ambitious – we want to make the game of our dreams.”

“Some games have you waiting ten years, then they’re released and you’re disappointed. There are different reasons for a game taking a long time, and sometimes it’s because there are lots of reboots during development. This isn’t the case here. We’re doing research. We have engineers working on big cities and massive environments. It’s really about doing all the technical research and making it as good as we’d love it to be.”
It was nice to hear the news. BG&E was a silly and unique game. We nicknamed it as "eco thriller" :).
As a new PS3 user, the next gen dependency saddens me a little but on the bright side it should mean it won't be limited by horrible specs of current gen. Meaning, it's so PC purchase.
December 13, 2013 could be a nice date for the sequel.

10 years to the day...

The limitation to next gen consoles, however, might be this project's grave YET AGAIN.
Having seen (as I'm sure everyone else has) the FMV short that is meant to be the opening FMV for the next game it looks safe to say that on current consoles (PS3/XBox360 but, for the love of all that's holy, not Wii) and PCs it should run fine. As the next gen PS4 and Microsofts' next unit are almost ready for release (first trial dev kits are already available for some interested parties) I'm guessing that bringing this out now may kill it. But what a swansong for the current consoles that would be.

I would love to get the sequel, regardless of which console it ends up on. But if they can have the pretty, silly graphics and the beautiful storytelling as a release bundle I will so be in-line!

Aish, I'm not 100% sold on Jade's new look. Gritty and "realistic". Mmm she was the sexiest video game character I've seen, I guess that's why I'm not in any mood to see her change.

However, it is great that the game is being developed! I just hope that it will maintain the same spirit and feeling as the first one (though judging by the Jade re-design, I don't know)
It’s unknown when Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be unveiled in detail, but E3 in June seems like a good guess.
Well... it wasn't.

Ubisoft will probably never do this. It's been almost 11 years. With Uplay at work, however, I'd actually rather they didn't make this at all. :(
Beyond Good and Evil never really got me excited so I never bothered to play it, but I recently decided to and despite it being short I really enjoyed it. Which is saying something cause most game now a days are just meh and I never put in the time to beat them. I did with this and now I see why people are wanting BG&E2. I myself am on that hype train and I can't wait to see it when it comes out.
12 years now, and Michel Ancel has left Ubisoft to boot. It has been said that he'd still work for Ubisoft to a degree, and I guess that means Beyond Good & Evil, but, really, what's the point. Ruined by Uplay and modeled after Assassin's creed, Ubisoft could not deliver a good successor even if they really, really tried. :( :(

I absolutely agree with this sentiment; perhaps if Ancel could work on the game it might turn out OK, but since he left Ubisoft my guess would be that he would only work on it part-time, perhaps just as a consultor or something like that...

Ubisoft was once great, or at least good (as were EA and Activision and 2K and Epic and all the major AAA developers/studios/distributors), but now they seem to be focusing on their Assassin's Creed formula for third person action-adventures (or what passes for action-adventure games, these days), and a Beyond Good & Evil 2 would certainly play a lot like those games, perhaps even using the same engine as those or the one they used in Watch_Dogs. All they seem to do, now, is milk their franchises dry, in all honesty I can no longer get excited for a new Assassin's Creed or even a new Far Cry, as I've already come to expect a new title in those franchises pretty much every year, and the novelty of it all gets a bit lost. Maybe it was time they put certain franchises on hold for a few years and bring back other franchises such as Beyond Good & Evil or Prince of Persia but, then again, I wonder whether someone at Ubi would still know what made those games work and how to make them again in this day and age in a way they could appeal to both the hardcore fans of the originals and the new generation of gamers.
At this point, for me, if BG&E2 was cancelled, I'd expect as much but at the same time, I'd be glad for it. It could Ancel the chance to move on and do a 'spiritual successor' to BG&E.

Female protagonist, wacky but emotionally-connected sidekick, large world (s), taking pictures (or video), sneaky, mini-games, the like.

And then maybe, I can start work on that BG&E movie script...
So E3 proceeded in a fairly traditional way. Nothing about BG&E was shown, so journalists asked, and got the answer that Ubisoft has nothing to show at the moment. So journalists declared the franchise dead, and Ubisoft had to issue a denial (and, I think, ask IGN to take down their article on BG&E2). Ancel's still doing some fairly undefined things at Ubisoft, but being "a busy man", Ubisoft won't comment on "his bandwidth".

It's over. It's so effing over... :(

To quote Charlie Day:
"NOTHING IS OVER UNTIL I SAY IS OVER!"

Actually, no, wait. That episode ended badly for him.

Okay, let's just say that the sequel is done. Does that mean we just give up? Fans of the series just shrug our shoulders and say it is finished?

Love for the series is still alive. Jade, the fans... they're all still alive.

An actual playtest? Difficult to check if it is legit or not, but if it is true, we may have a month or two before we hear more about it.

It is something good for now.

That would be gamescom... but I'm still very sceptical if Ubisoft can pull off anything besides an AC clone... :(

Unfortunately at this point since it has been so long and after watching the leaked footage I think that much like Half-Life 3 if BG&E2 finally came out it would prolly be a let down. The first game is so good and they needed to capitalize on it then. Now, it has been so long that people have gotten ideas in their head about what the game should be like or what they want and I feel if it gets released more that people will be more disappointed than getting the game they want. I also think that's why Valve hasn't pushed out HL3 is because of the same reasons and they don't want to disappoint players.

That's just my opinion though and I do hope BG&E2 finally gets made, but I still feel like people will be disappointed over getting the game they want.

Also the supposed leaked footage makes me think they are taking an Uncharted (game) type play style to it which kinda worries me if that is actual leaked footage.
