chautemoc: Sorry, I meant it's the lowest you can go and still be properly widescreen.
Oh, now I think I know what you mean. Thanks.
Does the stone gui from the first post work with BWS?
Quick question, I installed the widescreen mod at 1280 x 800 along with the GUI mod. It seems that I can only run this in windowed mode or I will get an error message when launching. This is fine however, I can't seem to get the window to scroll when moving the mouse to the edge of the screen. Anyone have this problem?
I was having trouble moving the screen in windowed mode but I haven't tried the Widescreen Mod yet.

I was wondering if anyone knows why my fiance's laptop would play BG WIdescreen right off the bat, when mine won't and apparently most people need this mod?
I got the two mods working great looks like but there is one glaring annoyance. When I drag the mouse to the edge of the screen to move the view, if I move outside of the area of the basic resolution it thinks I'm trying to go diagonal instead of say, up. so the entire right side of the top of the screen sends my view diagonally up and to the right as opposed to just up. The other sides of the screen do the same thing. Is this just me and is there a way to fix it? Like I said, it's just an annoyance, but I would really like a solution.

EDIT: Also, thanks to all who contributed, this is a really great mod, and in my opinion is what makes this game playable. (I, unfortunately, can't rely on nostalgia as I never played it before.)

Does the widescreen patch still need the ToTSC International patch to work with BG1?
After some back and forth, I think I got this to work. I had a couple problems though:

1. GUI mod would not work at 1280x720, which is what I'd like it at. I reinstalled the widescreen and GUI mods at 1280x800 and they work, but I have a 16:9 not 16:10 monitor.

2. - AND THIS IS THE BIG ONE - Is the mod supposed to change how the edge of screen scrolling works? Currently if I put my cursor at the middle bottom of the screen, it scrolls down and right. In order to scroll down, I need to put the cursor at about the "one quarter from the left" side of the monitor. If the GUI mod is not supposed to fix this, is there another mod that makes scrolling accurate on widescreen monitors?

The link for the widescreen mod at g3.net isn't valid anymore. When I go to the directory of the mirror site, I see only an earlier version that's dated from January. Did this get pulled for some reason?

it still works. I just tested it. This Page, and I used the Gibberlings Three link under the Info Box on the left (about 3/4 the way down).
Sorry if I am repeating any previous posts but I'm having difficulty with the widescreen install...

Install Component [Widescreen Mod]?
[I]nstall, or [N]ot Install or [Q]uit?

Seems to be a "run of the mill" widescreen error which is why i can't figure this one out. Any ideas? I've run a clean install several times but to no effect.

EDIT: Nevermind...link on their website gave me the wrong version =\

Trying to play bg1 (gog version) in windowed mode with widescreen v3 and gui mod v0.99 causes an appcrash every time without fail. Any ideas? Thanks.
I am trying to get this to work on my widescreen laptop (1600x900 recommended resolution). I am running Windows 7 x86. I can't get more than a small game screen surrounded by black, so I'm guessing that it is not working! I am talking about Baldur's Gate II. I don't know how to check the version of the game. I assumed what I downloaded from gog was the latest. Do I need to download an official patch before I install any mods? Please say no, because I've already installed at least 3!

Anyone got any tips for getting widescreen to work for me?

thanks

edit:OOPs sorry just noticed that actual ingame is fine

Seeing how this just blows the menus and gui all over the place instead of stretching them I'll just play it at the original resolution.

Now only if the scrolling worked on windowed mode.

You can add this mod: http://athkatla.cob-bg.pl/viewtopic.php?t=3257

Which has UIs for a bunch of different resolutions.

Alternatively you can use Baldur's Gate Trilogy or EasyTuTu mods to play BG1 in the BG2 engine if you also have BG2. BG2 doesn't have the same widescreen issue.

(Alas, Icewind Dale 2 does and there's no mod to fix that...)

hayleb: I just installed 2.60 mod and it runs fine besides for the obvious problems.

I will wait for BG2.. actually I probably still have the discs.

to solve this problem, install the nvidia fix which can be found here : http://www.shsforums.net/topic/30840-ie-games-and-nvidia-series-8-video-cards/
