Hi guys. I've been reading some EE vs Complete version debate for some time, and, having finished the game back in my day using CDs and later installing a whole lot of mods (and for disliking the general Beamdog way of doing things in general) I'd like to buy the classical game, the Complete version.

But there's only the Enhanced Edition avaliabe in the store.

Does it comes with an option on the installer to install the classic game instead? Or are we stuck with Neera and Dorn and other badly written stuff?

Sorry if it has already been answered, I couldnt find it at least. But thanks in advance.

Yes, when you buy the enhanced editions you also get the classic ones.

As a straight download, no, BG1EE only has downloaders for the EE.

However, I bought BG1EE recently. Under "more" in the games library section there is a key for the classic version. Whether you can redeem this for yourself I don't know, but it's a start.
I came here with a very similar question.

Although I am not interested in buying the EE editions to get the regular games; I would however buy the original games in standalone format.
Beamdog made sure people can't buy the classic versions anymore, unless they pay for their remakes. Most likely because the remake sucked and the classics were outselling them. Slimey move brought forth by desperation.
You can NOT BUY classic versions anymore. It sucks but it is what it is.

If you buy the EE editions, they come with a redeem code for classic versions so you will be able to play them.

You can. That's what it's for.
If you redeem it, it shows up in your library as a separate product, and you can then download and install it without ever touching the Enhanced Edition.

So everything is still as it was, product-wise -- just that they can no longer be bought separately.

(And yeah, I agree that this was a shady move on the part of GOG and Beamdog. On Steam, they're still sold separately.)

I dont think STEAM has classic versions of BG at all. I am not sure if it ever did.
I have "Dungeons And Dragons The Master Anthology" from Gamersgate.com. It contains Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 and Expansions; Icewind Dale 1 & 2 and Expansions; The Temple of Elemental Evil; and Planescape Torment. Pretty cheap at the regular price, and an incredible bargain when on special discount.

The only real problem with it is that the whole package comes in a unified installer which if I correctly recall is 12gbs. So even if you only want to install one game, you need to either download the whole 12gbs installer or copy from the dvds onto which y0u archived it because you have no confidence that these download game sites will last forever.

I'd consider buying Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 in standalone packages for a reasonable price.

Well, thanks a bunch anyway. I guess I'll redeem the code for the original games. Sucks about the 12gb installer, tho.

Just go to torrents. If they want to be assholes, no need to encourage them.
Is it possible to buy BG:EE, get key for classic edition, use key to obtain old good BG and then instantly get refund for BG:EE?

I can't find it any longer.

I have heard that this is at least theoretically possible.

Really though, I'm sure there's plenty around with unused keys since they bought both before the switcharound. Those keys are good for about a decade, so if you ask around very nicely you might run into someone's spare one instead?

Ah, you're right.
I saw "Baldur's Gate: The Complete Saga" on Steam recently, and thought it was the originals, but it's just a bundle of the enhanced editions.
