I have "Dungeons And Dragons The Master Anthology" from Gamersgate.com.

metamaker: I can't find it any longer.

I bought this when it was on sale for $5.99. Quite the bargain, really.

amazon.com and ebay.com have the original games in fantastic physical format! That's where I've bought my copies recently (collector's editions) and many moons ago (4-in-1 box set)

Just search for baldur's gate or baldur's gate 2. The 4-in-1 box set is listed for $8.99 right now!

Taskbar: I have "Dungeons And Dragons The Master Anthology" from Gamersgate.com. It contains Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 and Expansions; Icewind Dale 1 & 2 and Expansions; The Temple of Elemental Evil; and Planescape Torment. Pretty cheap at the regular price, and an incredible bargain when on special discount.

The only real problem with it is that the whole package comes in a unified installer which if I correctly recall is 12gbs. So even if you only want to install one game, you need to either download the whole 12gbs installer or copy from the dvds onto which y0u archived it because you have no confidence that these download game sites will last forever.

I'd consider buying Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 in standalone packages for a reasonable price.
The gamersgate pack has the GOG versions of the games. I know because I have it too.

As other have said, just get the original physical versions and mod them as needed. Do not give money to Beamdog, please.

Well, the ones in my account require a serial to install whereas the GOG versions are DRM-free; so there is that difference, in addition to the very inconvenient 12gbs installer.

It's not that. The games have gog files on them. The serial is only needed to access the installation though, and the games don't ask again for it.

Could I ask if you can confirm whether any of these collections will install and run well on more recent windows systems? I'm actually still currently using Windows 7, if that helps.
I'm using Windows 7 64bit and I'm still playing the 5+1 CD version of Baldur's Gate. You should be fine, the only thing that might bother you is the low resolution that can be changed with the widescreen mod.

Most games in GOG are basically the original release + the latest official patches or some tiny fixes.
I think you'll only have to look for those. The infinity engine games are quite sturdy though.
