I am physically disabled and that means I don't have the coordination to beat things like timers. I bought this game because it is round based combat and not real time combat. Why then, after god knows how many hours of game play, do they put in a dexterity test? People with disabilities such as mine go for round based combat systems as we don't and never will have the skills needed to beat real time.

Does anybody know any method of bypassing these timers or slowing down the clock so I can hit at the buttons in time?

Spoiler Alert!

It took me absolute ages to open the first passage in the Toronto (where Tom is rescued by Joe) and after 2 hours of trying I can only hit 2 of the 4 red buttons to open the next door. (yes, I have solved the puzzle that removes the blocks near the switches.)

Looking at cheat forums for Albion (I know, but else what can I do?) I found something about typing SCHNOSM in the options menu, but it doesn't do anything.

Thanks

I can't tell you at the moment for I haven't played Albion for years. Does GOG provide the official walkthrough? There you can read about it - or send me your savegame.

It only enables the cheat mode. Go to the main menu and then into option menu. There you can type schnosm which makes the screen flash. After that ALT + F7 teleports you to a secret room called "Albion shortcut map" with lots of (quest) items and doors to some but not all places. ALT + F8 starts a combat with several enemies (Skrinn 1, Warniak 1, 2 x Krondir 1, 2 x Rinrii 2, 2 x Furcht 1, Tier 1) immediately - that's nice if you want to gain experience points. There are other keys as well but they only display several information (except ALT + F9 which speeds up time). I've read about other stuff like being able to walk through walls (ghost mode) etc. but this seems to be nonsense.

No, developer mode (alt+F12) includes ghost mode, but in DOSBox it doesn't work normally, because alt+F12 is already used for something different. The fix for this can be found here:

Thanks for this correction. Although I'm not using DOSBox I wasn't able to find developer mode for I've read wrong information from a website: It said that SCHNOSM would enable developer mode and ALT + F12 would disable it - so guess what key combination I did not try... :-P

@Legless: If sidestepping/having shortcuts would help you overcoming your problem with those timers, developer mode would be one solution. I can't tell for I can't remember this part of the game at the moment. If it doesn't help you can send me your savegame and I'll beat those timers for you.
Thanks for your offer bjoernprinssen.
