Vitek: Phobius the Nodeful, Day 72

It was cast specifically to please you. I don't need to win this map, I need to annoy you with darkness.
It was more useful in Elocin, though, as our spheres there covered most of the map.

Turn sent.
On the other hand, the fact that it is annoying me means that things are happening in your zone of control rather than my zone of control, so it's a difficulty I can live with. In Elocin, our magic spheres did cover the whole darn surface and shielded my attacking forces nicely. (Not that you didn't know where they were generally, but it did keep you from identifying my weak underbelly regions.)

I'm glad to hear that winning the map is a secondary need for you! You'd better not tell Wenne though, he's hungry for my head on a spike...

Sexy Orcs, Day 73

Dammit, I knew there was something I'd forgotten! I'm supposed to be assaulting your capitals and homelands. I'll get to it eventually. For now, I am excited that my scouts are still alive. They can't see anything because the lights are turned out, but hopefully the power company does something about that eventually. :)

I did have a glorious battle where my incredible generalship was truly on display. Unfortunately, none of you get to witness it. I do love me a good quest though...

Phobius the Uninteresting, Day 73

Nothing happened this turn. Our welcoming comitee was fired for now, becasue they were not able to ensure Karrissa's arrival.

Turn sent.

@mimo; I am fine with stuff going on in our zone of control. It's better to draw you out and kill you in darkness. ;-)
Although I think that Wenne should already remove your annoying bat and that evil seductress.

He's leaving them for you to send some more Dragon Flies at her to see if you roll ones on your D20 another five times in a row :)

Actually, they are a tough nut to crack. You can't attack with ground troops at all because they have flight and the AI never casts the right spells. Plus, the seduce and life stealing abilities are pretty super duper awesomely kick butt. I've lost enough stacks to bloody doom bats and I'm sure Wenne has too. That was the whole reason I summoned that damn Phoenix, to counter his doom bats!
Apologies for the delay, Turn sent!

Sexy Orcs, Day 74

Now that's what I'm talking about! Always wanted to make an entrance like that into my enemy lands...

The Ugly Orcs can fly around in their balloon all day, but they are not man enough to take out the sexiest of sexy orcs, the seductress. I was tempted to attack the single Warlord wandering around just to win him over to my side, but I didn't trust the AI not to screw that up...

OOC - Okay, now that I've cast Fire Mastery... What the hell does it do in the long run? If I stop upkeeping it or it gets dispelled, do the nodes turn back into non-fire nodes and revert to the prior owners? If someone takes one from me, does it turn back into mine during my turn? It sure seems like an excessively powerful spell, even for the amount of time and mana it took to cast it.

Hopefully it chokes off my enemy unit enchantments, summons, and research for a little while. I certainly appreciate the better view of the world and the free Goblin city. :)

Phobius the Reborn, Day 74

Gosh, you are annoying.

Turn sent.

I would like to know it as well. I will tell you next turn if the recaptured ones turned back to you. I know, though, that they don't never turn back to their previous state. That much I remember. They will stay as fire ones until some other mastery is cast or untl they are just altered.

That is awesome. For that alone it was worth casting since all I had was non-fire nodes before giving me a wimpy 10 mana apiece instead of the 20 that I now receive per node. From a cost/benefit point of view, it's hard to top Alter Node, but Mastery on a Large map or Extra Large map is an even better return on investment!

XOXOXO,
the annoying and sexy Orcs.

The recaptured nodes stay as whatever type of node the mastery turned them into and they keep the magic zone around them as long as the mastery is in effect. The only difference when they are recaptured is who owns the node and gets the mana from it.

Hmm, that leads to some interesting economics. Ally, give me back the fire nodes and I'll send you mana every turn greater than the amount you'd receive from owning them. :)

This would be a really annoying spell to have your ally cast, especially if you've already put in the effort of converting your nodes or if you owned a lot more nodes than your ally. It might be worth prohibiting the casting of this spell for huge maps in the future since it seems overpowered.

It also has benefits for your ally when you cast it though because when you cast it you and your ally will both be able to see and cast spells around the nodes that you now control.

I've never seen what happens when a second mastery spell of a different sphere is cast after the first one has taken effect though. I would guess that the most recent mastery cast would take effect overriding the previous one but I could be wrong.

Shhhhh. Don't give away all of our secrets. And especially don't tell them about the army of Chaos Lords I have in the Shadow Realm.
