A lovely indie puzzle platformer...

With a focus on story-telling and humor. Even if you're not a fan of platforming and puzzles, it's worth playing it just for the story and humor, the awesome pixel art visuals and amazing soundtrack. Really the gameplay is nothing new or groundbreaking. It did have a few slightly tough parts, but overall it was pretty easy, admittedly to the point of being somewhat boring at times, but it's paced perfectly with the story segments to keep you interested and entertained. It's not a particularly long game either, which is why the price tag stings a little, but you should definitely get it on a sale if that's your jam. The story and characters and their character progressions, as well as the over-the-top humor and more serious lessons and morals later on were definitely the main bread and butter of the game for me, they're what makes a mediocre puzzle platformer into an indie masterpiece. Even though the humor is really over-the-top at times (to the point of being cringe/ unnecessarily vulgar), I've enjoyed every moment of the story. There are even some (not very well) hidden collectibles that tell small bits of story themselves. The characters are very well written and believable and you'll come to love them all (even the "villains"). Overall, not without its faults, and somewhat short for the price, but delightful in every way and totally deserving of 5 stars.

As Advertised! Watch the Trailers!

I picked this one up because I wanted a puzzle platformer with simple gameplay, big on plot, and off-the-wall, over-the-top humor. I got what I wanted! Oh yeah, and a really melodic and memorable soundtrack, too! (Which is ALSO worth purchasing!) There's a disclaimer when you navigate to this game's page, as well as when you start up the game, telling you this's essentially an "R" rated game. I didn't find anything terribly offensive or depressing, but maybe I'm not easily offended...I’m also kinda old. :/ Each area's alternate universe is essentially one of the ways in which the world could possibly end...you're going to be seeing some red-blasted skies, dead bodies, corpses and skeletons in places, along with collectibles that might give you an idea of what happened there, providing miniature, side plot lines. The trailers are an accurate representation of what to expect, especially humor-wise; there're quite a few dramatic plot twists, and gory and horrific things all played JUST for laughs, not to mention your run-of-the-mill irony...and then the scriptwriters decide they want to be 100% serious and wax existential in the last two chapters. Not sure if the scenes with characters waxing poetic under the spotlight - amidst pitch black darkness (reminiscent of Evangelion, of all things) - is parody, or meant to be taking seriously; there are some breakneck tonal shifts between humor and drama. The plot of this game would probably feel right-at-home as an anime. I 100%ed this game in 10 hours, over 2 evenings (The Achievement descriptions tell you EXACTLY what you need to know in order to get them)! Only needed a walkthrough to tell me how to get 2 collectibles that I missed (which I didn't even know you could pick them up!) In other words, it's not that hard, but it's enjoyable; you're pretty much guaranteed an automatic easy good time, that you can pick up easily and finish relatively quickly, as opposed to having to sit through a bunch of tutorials.

Fine game

I haven't finnished the game yet, but I'm planning on doing so. That and the stars should already point you to the conclusion that this game is fine. If it is worth your time, maybe. There are things to keep in mind: - the writing (characters, dialogs) are simple; not very bright but usually okay; - there are bugs that hinder usability (if my monitor goes into sleep I loose audio until I've restarted the game; I've managed to break controls once) but saves happen often and progress of the game is preserved; - puzzles difficulty can jump all over the place (one moment they are dead simple, next they really require thinking out of the box on the edge of thinking if you just used a bug to get through). This is a good game to take your mind of of real life for a moment, take a small break. It is like cheap tea, the taste is not really there but it will warm you up.

More than I hoped for

This probably will be my new "go to" game when discussing how it's not enough for a game to be great to be popular. Some summary: * while technically this is platformer, I would say there are no parts that require agility from player, platforming works more like a tool to enrich what gameplay in this game is really about: puzzles and adventure * I'm not a fun of pixel art, but at many times I was really impressed by what it was able to achieve in this game, especially when it comes to character impressions * I think this game is really funny, I would recommend anyone to play this game because of jokes, but at the same time be warned that game isn't only jokes and there's some serious stuff happening, which took me by surprise, thankfully serious stuff was blended rather well with jokes * I like what music and sounds were able to achieve, atmosphere and immersion really benefit from them, best example is probably instant switching from forest full of sun to forest during the night, with rain and character steps making little splash sound from walking wet grass * story is definitely interesting, both in concept and story telling - usually I was interested in how story will unfold and during cutscenes/dialogues I was interested with what is currently happening I liked "What lies in the multiverse" so much that I will definitely consider buying next game from this studio on it's release - I think it's the highest praise that cam come from someone who 99% of the time buys games with deep discounts years after their release.
