Asymmetric Then there's the lore. West of Loathing takes place after a major magical disaster: the Day the Cows Came Home. Portals to hell turned the cows demonic, and great darkness spread across the West. West of Loathing elicits this powerful emotional connection with stick figures. It bonds you to its world with nothing more than doodling and dialogue. There's a pretty good turn-based adventure game there, under the hood, but West of Loathing's many strengths are all personal: connections made between developer and player when you both laugh at the same time. Absurdism aside, there's something fundamentally human and direct baked into the game's whole design from aesthetic to script. On top of it, you can dunk your hand into a spittoon of caustic toxins to pull out an enchanted sword. That's the kind of player choice I didn't even know I wanted in a Western RPG.

Fun game with dad humor

Love the dad humor which I think this game is geared towards. Do not underestimate the battles as you can get killed quickly if you get careless. Cow Puncher currently for first playthrough not sure about Beanwizard on what they do but the Snake Oil class I believe comes with a little snake buddy. lol BTW Do not let the name Cow Puncher botther you.... these demonic cows show no mercy. Let your every blow (fist punch) be a prayer for Mankind

Looks can be deceiving

The simple art style can be deceiving. Underneath hides a hilarious text-heavy RPG. Hilarious being the main theme. The game doesn't take itself seriously. It makes fun both of westerns and RPGs. However, it offers a unique and enjoyable take on the genre. There are always more solutions how to approach a situation. You can do it through combat and use the sheer force. Other approach makes you think a little about the solution. The humour relies heavily on puns and wordplay. If you don't like it, you probably won't enjoy the game as much. I recommend West of Loathing as a perfect way to blow off some steam. The Cows aren't gonna punch themselves, after all.
