The Dwarven stars are slowly dying -- putting the race at the edge of extinction. Deliverance is poised upon three Dwarven astronauts who are sent on an expedition to find a new star in the depths of the Endless Stone. Take control of Forcer, Smashfist, and Shadow as they explore the unknown territories of the stone universe while meeting new civilizations and ancient monsters from the deep layers of space.
We Are The Dwarves is an action-based tactical adventure with active pause (extreme slowdown of time) placing you in control of three Dwarven astronauts. Forcer is capable of ranged destruction, and timely set-up exectution. Smashfist, a brute at heart, gets up close and personal with rage worth avoiding. Shadow stays just where you'd expect him to, launching deadly successive assassinations and precision archery from afar. As a trio, combine each dwarfs attack styles into orchestrated destruction against your foe.
The voice acting is terrible. The controls are bad. The game balance is broken. The tutorial is seriously lacking. The UI has serious failures. All this is a real shame because the graphics, sound, performance, and ability variations are all good. Lot of good foundation, but it just wasn't finished in a way that gives you a playable game. I tried a couple times but found no fun only frustration. Since it's been years since release, it seems clear it won't be fixed either.

No epic music and the game is very exciting
The game little hard at the beginning (maybe because I failed to handle UI at that time) but it is very enjoyable.
Pros:
1. Setting. It is very original and I always thinked "How they ever imagined this?" when played. E.g. concept of underworld space, "stars", very extraordinary creatures, all of this very interesting.
2. UI. Maybe they fixed old issues but I find nothing wrong when played using keyboard/mouse. Maybe I just too experienced with roguelikes.
3. Gameplay. I really enjoyed that. Each dwarf has absolutely unique playstyle and tactics and you need to exploit all of them to survive. It is really refreshing compared to the common "press X to the win (or press it with correct timings)". Active pause is very useful and require less good reaction from player, my main issue with shooters and some slashers. Combination of 3 dwarves and creative usage of environment provide great variability of possible tactics and solutions.
4. Locations. They are very beautiful and alien. I liked it from very start and enjoyed until the end.
Cons:
1. In stealth missions (there are a lot of them), Shadow (thief) is felt as overpowered and other dwarves are mostly useless.
2. Smashfists (berserker) single-hero chapter takes place in swamps where playing with hime less interesting. Other dwarf chapers are more suited to their abilities.
Overall, it is a game which should be tried by everyone.
