The Dwarven stars are slowly dying -- putting the race at the edge of extinction. Deliverance is poised upon three Dwarven astronauts who are sent on an expedition to find a new star in the depths of the Endless Stone. Take control of Forcer, Smashfist, and Shadow as they explore the unknown territories of the stone universe while meeting new civilizations and ancient monsters from the deep layers of space.
We Are The Dwarves is an action-based tactical adventure with active pause (extreme slowdown of time) placing you in control of three Dwarven astronauts. Forcer is capable of ranged destruction, and timely set-up exectution. Smashfist, a brute at heart, gets up close and personal with rage worth avoiding. Shadow stays just where you'd expect him to, launching deadly successive assassinations and precision archery from afar. As a trio, combine each dwarfs attack styles into orchestrated destruction against your foe.
Very interesting premise. Quite different from other RPGs. However a minimap is desperately needed and so are information when you are starting. I shouldn't have to check on the internet how to fix my shields.
The game have good potential. but it has a lot of stuff that making it frustrating for beginners. First several hours I was fighting GUI more then mobs and when my patience was gone I quit the game. If I bought it on steam I would refund for sure.
After some weeks I returned and tried again, I got some exp and figured out some stuff like how to move the camera e.t.c. After that game started to feel much better, and through the playing there was ten more times I figured out some game or GUI mechanics and thought: "Why didn't you put that in the tutorial?!"
So the game feels pretty good when you know it well enough, and it does pretty bad job to introduce it self to the player (and I don't refer to some fun game mechanics like combos you can use in battle, but mostly to GUI stuff). Maybe better to google some beginner guide when you start.
As with other users, wait till this goes on sale. It seems like this is a teaser with only two chapters. Overall I found this game to be quite challenging and enjoyable. It took a while to get used to the character movements and functions. I learned to use the pause feature a lot when in battle.
Hopefully there are more chapters.
Seems like people complaining about the controls simply don't know how to properly use Pause feature in RTT games. Otherwise, I have no idea.
I love the idea (in fact I myself tried to make something similar some years ago, lol), I love the game lore and atmosphere and I haven't found any critical issues with implementation so far, although they could do more with it.
I would give it 4/5, but since this game seems underrated - 5/5
