While echoes of the original release pacing problems remain, the Director's Cut does much to add variety to the experience with new features such as perks, quirks, and precision aiming. It's likely not enough to warrant a replay if you've already finished it, but if this is your first foray into inXile's bleak vision of the future, this is the best place to start off.

Despite some gameplay flaws, Wasteland 2 gets a lot of things right for the genre. Fans of isometric, hardcore RPGs will find a detailed world to explore in the title. inXile Entertainment provides deep attention to detail on an awe-inspiring level. Creation of independent currencies and social hierarchies in the game create a living environment. Fully fleshed-out NPCs with voice-overs add to the detail of the wastes and make characters more than just placeholders. Interacting with the environment may lead to new clues and options for gameplay. Wasteland 2 is full of player choice and replayability that will keep players busy for a while. With gameplay easily exceeding 80 hours of content, Wasteland 2 is not for the faint of heart. Those who appreciate challenging experiences and detailed world-building will find Wasteland 2: Director's Cut an important installment in their RPG library.

Utter garbage in terms of mechanics

"Fallout 2 for people, who so badly wanted Fallout 3 to be an isometric game"- in a nutshell. The game suffers from every stupid mechanic it comes up with and betrays it constantly for enemies. Watch 6 people in your party miss 90% of the time with an overall +80% chance to hit and for some reasons enemies deal constantly +10-20 dmg with all weapons, so looting the very same ones yield weapons that are essentially trash. What yourself reload over and over and over as your mechanics will not only fail checks three times in a row with 70% success chance, but do so critically half of the time (having a less than 10% chance to do so). The game could have been fun, but it is pretty clear where the devs came from and the game seems interesting enough, but constantly breaks the immersion by forcing you to reload all the goddamn time. Oh, and for some bloody reasons enemies ALWAYS go first. 99% of the time you can even snipe one of them and they still get to go first. I mean, what the hell is even that initiative system? If anything in this game works "as intended" then these guys did either a bloody awful job in designing it, or that's just a bold faced lie. "The negative reviews are nonsense" claim is fun, because this game is just abhorrent garbage when it boils down to it's core mechanics, and hencewith, I am fairly certain that the positive reviews are written by screaming fanboys who finally got their "fallout 3" they think they deserve.

wasted land

Got this game for free from winter sale. Played it a couple of hours and unfortunatelly don't want to play more. The best part of the game is Ranger creations. After that the gameplay for me doesn't look good. A lot of irritating situations especially with combat. Sometimes I want to get into combat some special way that might give me advantage but to execute it...real pain in the ass (load, save, load, load, load, save, load, load etc. just to position everyone and START combat). It should be more tactical with giving orders during pause. Probably if combat would be better I would rate it completely different.

Old school RPG, great fun!

I played a few hours of the game so might not have gotten to all the irritating features. However, it is refreshing to see a game where choices matter, where you need tactics, and where character interactions do matter. You might have to play a little before getting a ranger party that actually work but that's just replay value. Quests are engaging, fun, and full of choices. The game itself can be complex (How do you stop bleeding again?) so reading the manual and tool tips is important.

Not Working On Linux

This isn't functional without supposedly entering commands in the terminal before launching the game (according to forums here.) Sorry, I'm not doing that as I don't know what unintended consequences the command could have and I shouldn't have to. The game needs to be in a working state before it is sold. If spending an hour on character creation only to have the game freeze up on you before it has even started sounds like fun, this is your game. Otherwise, stay away. I'm uninstalling now. What a waste!

Boring, clunky and annoying experience

Cons: - A childlike atmosphere (Arizona Rangers Woah ho!) - Character creation is vague, deceptive and so clunky! - Very unbalanced, mainly in terms of random enqounters. At the beginning of the game, after setting out into the wasteland, we can come across plunderers and these can be killed very easily. However, if we find varanas, we will die, because our weapons are practically unable to kill them, and they are very strong. It is as easy to find as plunderers. Initial clashes look like this: - You missed (65% accuracy) - You missed (75% accuracy) - You missed (75% accuracy) - The weapon is jammed! - The opponent attacks and immediately takes half your life away, or all if a critic comes in. I tried to fight with Varans several times and practically every time my whole team was killed. This was undoubtedly the merit of randomness, which, strangely enough, always stood on the side of the computer opponent. My rangers often missed a 70% chance of hitting them, or their weapons got stuck. Very annoying and boring experience. I can't recommended this game.
