Despite being considered a backwater of the Imperium, this region encompasses an enormous stretch of the void, filled with dangerous creatures and prodigious opportunities for profit and exploration.

Your decisions matter, Lord-Captain.
During quests show your subjects mercy or disdain, stay faithful to the God-Emperor, or consort with enemies of Mankind - your every decision and every act, even in character creation, is changing the in-game open world and those who inhabit it.

Gather your crew.
Rogue Traders never travel alone. Gather your retinue of righteous heroes, twisted psykers, and perfidious xenos. All of them are ready to follow you into the darkness between the stars. They will offer you counsel, aid you in battle, and allow you to amass ever more power. In return, you can guide them through their own personal journeys, changing their destinies forever.

Plan your actions carefully.
Slaughter the enemies of Mankind in a fully-fledged isometric turn-based tactical combat. Take advantage of cover, the environment, and careful positioning to overpower your enemies. When that is not enough - use your companion`s powerful abilities to turn the tide of battle and achieve victory even in the direst of situations. Our video game adaption of the classic Rogue Trader ruleset allows an enormous number of possibilities for you to explore.

Messy and buggy

I am 60 hours in and having fun except for... how long the loading screens are, how buggy it is. I am lucky enough that most bugs I have encountered where not game breaking, but I had to reload many times, and others the characters were just acting nonsensically or dialogue was simply cut.

Repetitive with an odd levelling system

I love the 40K lore, with it's faction politics and unrelentingly grim universe but it;s been a bit of a grind to get though this game. The enemy AI is predictable and the levelling system presents choices that frequently have nothing to do with character type. So you've invested in persuasion for your custom charachter? Well tough, you're presented with a Bounty Hunter archetype for your second and third tier levelling choices. Psycher with high intelligence and willpower but sod all strength and toughness? Great news! thats now a "Master strategist" who is earmarked for optiions in melee combat at every opportuity. And hows about that Space Woves Marine clad in power armour, who according to WH 40K lore should be a walking tank with superhuman reactions and endurance? Well my man seems to have spent too long in that Drukhari cage as he can't move more than 2 squares and takes heavy damage from a base level las-rifle! If you're going to force a structured charachter build, at least make the points and perks fit the original charachter type. Understand that Owlcat have made a system that is FORCED and not forced specialisation, such as Underail where your charachter has to specialise in one or two areas or die in every fight. Along with the rather fragile space marine there are a few othe lore breaking elements in the writing, but it's not as if GW hasn't retconned a few things over the years. At the end bof the day, I think it's an OK game, but suffers from unsaisfying combat and poor levelling mechanics. I think they could also have sqeezed a bit more budget for more voice acting for a well established IP .

Owlcat nailed it

Game is fun, characters are interesting and the setting the (very well depicted) rather unique Warhammer 40000 world. Standard difficulty feels that way. Forget about the truly hard encounters you could suffer in Pathfinder WOTR´s standard difficulty. Daring difficulty feels a step up. So, my point is: difficulty is better calibrated than in previous installments. Exploring in this game is fun, like it was for me in Pathfinder Kingmaker, and there is no time limit like there was in Kingmaker. Tactical combat is deep and levelling up is almost a chore since you will level up oftenly and you will have to decide what perks you choose for your party members. Some people see this as a chore, I see it differently: no two games will ever be be the same. If you dont like your party members you can use custom recruits and even ditch the former. Game has flaws and its far from perfect, but it delivers a ton of fun. I had waited for years for Eiyuden Chronicle (Suikoden spiritual succesor) to be released and here I am with 200 hours into Rogue Trader.

Unplayable buggy garbage!

You should wait a few months for most of the bugs to be cleared out. This is the most buggy release by owlcat,i played all of them games on release but this is the top de la creme. Two thirds of talents aka feets don't work at all, most of the quests are bugged, there is plenty of game breaking ones too. Should wait for an actual release.

Probably worth waiting a while.

While this is way more polished than Owlcat's previous two releases, neither of which could even be completed upon release, this is still very buggy and was clearly rushed. Good news is that this is Owlcat, and they will continue to polish and fix things until the game is complete and virtually bug free, which is why i'd hold off until then. Atm there lots of broken items and abilities, corrupt saves, crashes, missing text and the final two chapters are apparently a mess. Still, this really is a great game and they appear to have hired some actual writers for this one, so there are no more cringy companions or nonsensical sidequests like their previous offerings.
