Description

You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This mysterious entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. In sections of the game, you will explore the city through his eyes as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that threatens undead and mortal society.

Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realized by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.

You are the Monster
Blood sustains you and empowers your vampiric Disciplines. You’ll stalk and feed on the city’s population at night. Use your supernatural powers or raw persuasion on unsuspecting mortals to lure them into dark alleys and slake your Hunger. However, be cautious about breaking the Masquerade: revealing your true nature risks reprisals, starting with law enforcement and escalating from there. Remember, you are not the only creature that goes bump in the night.

Experience immersive, visceral combat that rewards various playstyles and approaches based on your choice of vampire clan. Will you engage in close combat with supernatural strength, attack from a distance with blood sorcery, or silently thin the herd like the apex predator you are? Your clan choice will support these playstyles and more.

A World of Darkness
Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society or rail against it. Experience Seattle - a city full of alluring, dangerous characters and factions, not to mention the mortals at stake in the clash of powers beyond their knowing. In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices, plots, and schemes will determine the balance of power and what becomes of the city and its people.

Not The Bloodlines

It’s not a terrible game, though it’s a terrible one for something called Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. The lack of budget and time is obvious everywhere; the game keeps only the MINIMALLY necessary elements to stop the design from collapsing. Consequently, the story and setting are more or less fine — the main issue there is the dull, repetitive quests that offer zero intrigue as you complete them. From a gameplay perspective, however, it’s bleak. Everything that could be cut was cut. Large, varied locations with anything to explore - nonexistent. Character creation, and really any ability to play as different characters at all - nonexistent. Inventory, weapons, meaningful consumables, and even money - nonexistent. Character progression, social skills, technical skills - nonexistent; all that remains is the option to buy a few abilities that heavily overlap in function, using four (!) different kinds of XP. Given all this, quest - path variability was naturally gone as well.

I did enjoy my time

Finished the game yesterday and felt compelled to start a new game to try a different clan. I really enjoyed the story, the characters, the intrigue, the atmosphere. First of all, I did get worried with all that happened to the game durting development and was a bit surprised when I saw that The Chinese Room was taking the helm. I do like the studio, in fact I've been playing their games since they released Dear Esther back in the day, I just knew that it probably wouldn't be a fully fledged RPG. And yeah the game is not an RPG, it leans more to action adventure, immersive sim. The devs did mention this since they started to talk about the game. All that being said, I really enjoy the game, as mentioned above liked the story, atmosphere, characters and so on. I like how the story and the mystery evolves and kept me wanting to play just a little bit more. At first I was not sure about the combat, but when I started to balance all the abilities it really clicked. It's fun, as well as the traversal, it feels really cool using the vampire sprint and gliding all over Seattle. I feel that the side quests leave a bit to be desired, they feel samey very fast. All in all I feel it is a good game for what it is and I am looking forward to the story expansions. [SPOILERS] [SPOILERS] [SPOILERS] [SPOILERS] [SPOILERS] [SPOILERS] Towards the end I think the game would have benefited of a final mission with Phyre in full strength after getting rid of the mark.

SOOO Much Lost

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em vampires does NOT a sequel to one of the best RPGs ever made. It DOES suck, but NOT in the good way.... = _ [ Gone is everything that made the first EPIC, to be replaced with bland blah.

A not unexpected disappointment

Lets face it, it was in development hell for a long while and it it went through more foster cares than most problem children. I consider Bloodlines 1 a masterpiece (almost), despite all of its buggy flaws. Bloodlines 2 is not a masterpiece. Its a mediocre game plain and simple. Get it on sale if you must, otherwise avoid it. I feel sorry for all the talented people/developers who had to handle this mess, without getting the time and resources to actually give it the love and care it needed.

If it wasn't called Bloodlines 2...

Sadly, it's everything what I was afraid of when I heard back then the game is changing developers. It's a vampire game for sure, but it has nothing much to do with the original Bloodlines nor the Vampire: The Masquerade. It's like the game uses the Mask of a Thousand Faces, only to fail miserably. It pretends to be an RPG, but it's closer to an action adventure game with a lot of brawl and a noir mystery. With acceptable, occasionally cringe writing and no inventory, hotkeys or whatsoever. The snowy Seattle looks ominous and moody as expected, but it feels lifeless. No matter how many people walk the streets, they are just props like the tall buildings surrounding you. And the characters... They are the positive points of the game, definitely. Talking with them breaks the monotonious cycle of roaming the streets and rooftops to find the next clue, beat up some ghouls, then head back to your haven to sleep, so you can progress the story... Only to do all this again and again, unless you roam around in flashbacks as Fabien, playing detective and talking to things with colorful personalities. I wanted to like this game, and it's not unbearably bad per se. If it was marketed as Bloody Nights in Seattle or something similar, devoid of the Vampire: The Masquerade label, it would be fairly acceptable. But it isn't the case, sadly...
