Description
You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This mysterious entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. In sections of the game, you will explore the city through his eyes as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that threatens undead and mortal society.
Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realized by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.
You are the Monster
Blood sustains you and empowers your vampiric Disciplines. You’ll stalk and feed on the city’s population at night. Use your supernatural powers or raw persuasion on unsuspecting mortals to lure them into dark alleys and slake your Hunger. However, be cautious about breaking the Masquerade: revealing your true nature risks reprisals, starting with law enforcement and escalating from there. Remember, you are not the only creature that goes bump in the night.
Experience immersive, visceral combat that rewards various playstyles and approaches based on your choice of vampire clan. Will you engage in close combat with supernatural strength, attack from a distance with blood sorcery, or silently thin the herd like the apex predator you are? Your clan choice will support these playstyles and more.
A World of Darkness
Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society or rail against it. Experience Seattle - a city full of alluring, dangerous characters and factions, not to mention the mortals at stake in the clash of powers beyond their knowing. In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices, plots, and schemes will determine the balance of power and what becomes of the city and its people.
Dude man they just preyd on everyone that had nostalgia for Bloodlines and delivered nothing like Bloodlines.
Also the DLC ideas sound so dumb why would i want to play side characters that had no control making or leveling or anything.
Looks like the first DLC is Benny....Benny who cares about Benny same with the other one.
I should of wen't with my gut and not waste my money on this. For some reason i was holding on hope that this game was going to be great. I figured the Chinese room and Paradox would make sure to provide a good game specially after all the pushback on this garbage.
Nope just ruin a series we loved so they can make money of nostalgia.
Plus requirering a Launcher to play there game get the F**k out of here.
I will NEVER EVER buy a game from The Chinese Room again to me this studio is dead and worthless.
this game is nothing more then a stripped down version of you generic "open world" walking simulator with a bit of VTMB lore in it. Not to mention the microphone requirement for launcher! why does your stupid launcher want to listen to me?? how did this happen?
I strongly encourage you to skip this one, it's not worth the price. Especially that free Roboto font on the main menu...
As a sequel to a cult classic, Bloodlines 2 had an opportunity to reproduce its charm and depth while also smoothing out its (many) rough edges. Expectations started to sour when the game got a new dev team: it was going to take a miracle to save it... And boy, the miracle did NOT happen.
To be fair, on its own merits VtM:B2 is... fine. Gameplay-wise, moving through Seattle feels good, the stealth works okay, and while clunky the combat can be fun. The story and dialogue are occasionally undermined by sub-par voice acting but are solid overall: it's a pretty good portrayal of the World of Darkness and the colorful bloodsuckers that populate it. Nothing incredible, but on its face it all mostly works.
The question while playing this game though is... Why is it called Bloodlines 2? This is NOT a successor, spiritual or otherwise, to VtM:B. It does not expand on its story outside of some timid nods, takes almost no notes from its game design, and replaces the customization and management mechanics of the tabletop game with a generic skillpoints system.
It drops all pretense of being an Immersive Sim and in fact barely qualifies as an RPG, instead electing to be an open world action game like we've seen by the dozens. Think Batman Arkham or Shadow of Mordor, only less fun: all you do is follow quest markers, bust the skulls of cloned mooks, and meet NPCs who seemingly only exist to send you on unremarkable errands.
For all of the OG's flaws, what made it special and beloved is that every quest had narrative depth and could be handled in multiple manners; each place and NPC felt like they had a real history; each character build let you interact with the world in a new way... It felt ORGANIC, something I never quite got from this sequel. Ironically, VtM:B2 doesn't care about its bloodline - and even disregarding the lack of connection to its predecessor, it's very average and overpriced. Don't buy it, or at least wait for a massive discount.
Save your time : nothing to see here.
combat, story, skills, quests (?), even graphics : everything's bad.
it's a corridor with no personalisation, noone cares what you want to do, combats are horrible (everyone are shooting at you but you can't use a weapon ??)
skills are mostly useless but it's sadly the only thing you have in combats
your clan has no impact on the game
no side quests
PNJ have a 1990s AI
you're moving like spiderman, fighting like a slow boxer, you never feel like a vampire.
...
so many bad things, it's too long to write, not worth my time
PDX launcher required (not DRM-free)
few to little RPG elements
no masquerade to break
This is bloodlines in name only.
