Description
Experience fantasy role-playing’s most distinctive and award-winning series in this special three-game collection. Ultima: The Second Trilogy follows the spellbinding tale of the Avatar in this richly detailed and challenging story. The setting is medieval Britannia, but the stories are timeless and involve universal issues that explore the essence of virtue. First, there is the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment in Ultima IV, where your personal ethics are tested in a treacherous struggle to demonstrate the eight virtues of Avatarhood. Then in Ultima V, you rely on your new-found strengths and skills to oppose a tyrannical leader who warps the virtues you uphold through his twisted legislation of morality. Finally, in the epic concluding chapter of Ultima VI, you, the Avatar, must resolve the cultural conflict between a race of hostile creatures and your own. It all adds up to a relentless test of character in a world where things are not always as they appear, and evil is not easily defined.

  • Visit thousands of colorful places and characters, search towns, castles, and villages. Converse with merchants and mages, all as you walk, ride, and sail across Britannia
  • Explore magic, combat, and deception – weave hundreds of magical spells, watch axes and arrows fly in combat, discover clues, and solve mysteries
  • Witness the transformation from Stranger to Avatar through self-improvement, then join him on his quests to save Britannia and become the savior of all.

Masterpiece

Ultima IV = genial and unique Ultima V = Amazing theme and a really fun combat with a great GREAT complete game Ultima VI = A really good plot with a fun gameplay to end the trilogy Use ultimapatcher for ultima iv and v for better graphics (iv) and music on. For Ultima VI try Nuvie. Sure all games has cons but I can´t complain right now. Give this masterpiece series a try and you won´t regret.

Must.Play.

All right, if the matter was to name the best C-RPG in history, half of the planet would probably be fighting to tell wich one of those three games it is. Ultima IV, as the first RPG when your goal WASN'T to go kill the bad guy? Ultima V, for its fantastic atmosphere, its dark world and its fascinating story? Or Ultima VI as the first virtual reality where you could do almost anything, only beaten by its sequel, aka the-game-where-you-could-even-cook-bread? Simple answer is: take an hour in your life to read the manual and simply play the games. No RPG-lover will ever regret that.

Ultima VI alone is worth the whole pack

I had a blast playing Ultima VI when I was a kid. This game is huge, especially for its time, an open-world RPG before open-world RPGs were even a thing. You can explore the world, farm goods in the villages, fight monsters in the dungeons, all or none at the same time. There are many sub-quests, some of them you won't even know they exist, some others you'll be in and you won't even notice. Characters have all their back-stories, their daily routine, at dawn they get up, they go to work, at noon they have lunch, at night they go to sleep etc. All in in-game "real"-time. Of course, the game is very old, but you will be surprised by how playiable is still nowadays. Graphics are passable, but you can find mods to increase the resolution etc. Unfortunately, I've never played Ultima IV and V (they're too old, even for me! XD), so I cannot speak of them.

My most memorable Ultima game

Ultima VI was the very first Ultima game I had ever played, it introduced me to the franchise and at the time I thought this was the most immersive and best-looking game (given how primitive computers were back 20 or so years ago). The game didn't force you to go from objective to objective; it simply lets you do your own thing, explore the world at your leisure, learn things at your own pace, and that in itself was the best part about Ultima VI, for me at least. You really felt you were exploring a world as an independent character, not so much playing a game. I think Ultima VI was the epitome of defunct Origin Systems Inc's slogan back then - "We Create Worlds". I would buy this trilogy just for part VI, and relive my childhood memories.

ONE OF THE BEST

I played IV and V early one many years ago. They were among the first RPG's I played on my PC (having experienced other RPG's on the C64) and I started playing VI many years ago as well. I knew it would be a game I'd want to complete once I retired and when I got the chance I dove back in (My old save game wasn't recoverable so I started anew). It took me 80+ hours (and that's using walkthroughs) but I absolutely loved it! It's an amazing sandbox non-linear RPG and my one minor complain is the inventory system. For gamers who love vintage RPG's you cannot go wrong with this purchase.
