Description
Aziraal, the god of fire, has fallen and the Dark Lord Gandohar is scheming as to how to disrupt the balance between the elements. Five long years have passed since the events of the first game and you, the hero, begin your adventure trapped in Gandohar’s prison. Now you must forge an alliance with your most hated enemy: the Orcs. You’ll have to put old enmities aside, reclaim your freedom. and save your sister in Two Worlds II.

In Two Worlds II: Pirates of the Flying Fortress, a band of fame-hungry pirates led by the legendary Captain Ed Teal, have become trapped in a cursed archipelago when their ship ran aground, where they will be damned to remain forever until aided by a hero with a strong back(that’s you) and a (somewhat) loyal disposition. Trust, after all, is no short sale in these cursed islands, especially not for a man tasked with finding the Treasure - an immaterial wealth said to manifest the beholder's wildest dreams.

The war has come home! While the bloody battle between Gandohar’s troops and the armies of the Orcs is raging in front of the gates of Oswaroth, the emperor waits in the depths of his palace on the outcome of the struggle for power. However, he does not know that an elite troop of Orcs, led by Rogdor, is making its way through secret paths into the fortress and is now close to the portals of the throne room. Two Worlds II: Castle Defense gives you the opportunity to slip into the role of the Emperor Gandohar and his henchman Sordahon! These villains from the "Two Worlds" universe are now playable for the first time ever in this strategy game, thus opening an entirely new perspective into the vast world of Antaloor. Using foresight and skill, you must defend abandoned ruins, dark forests, and winding catacombs against the onrushing Orcs. Ward off each attack with clever tactics and weaponry, defending Gandohar's throne in the Oswaroth fortress!

  • Two Worlds II Epic Edition includes the original Two Worlds II, the Pirates of the Flying Fortress expansion, and Two Worlds II: Castle Defense.
  • Master crafting to customize armor and weaponry, brew complex potions, and craft unique and powerful spells.
  • Forge alliances and help out those who are need. Be mindful of your decisions as they can bear consequences with a further reach than you may realize.

Very chill game and good combat

The AI in this game is better than a game of this caliber has any right to be. When several enemies attack you, some will guard like tanks, some will flank (and it makes a big difference), some that are wounded will run away. I have seen mages that have DOT auras cast that aura then rush me. But not just the enemy. Summoning can be a big part of your mage character. I was carried through the game by my summons. My favorite are the warriors straight out of Cthulhu mythos. I have never played an open-world RPG where the combat carried the game. Combat carries Two Worlds II, thanks to its solid mechanics. Combat lacks a certain gravitas, but it's dynamic and responsive. I am talking specifically about melee. You can choose between several different weapons, both one and two handed. The cool part is each kind of weapon has its own special move. You can pull enemy's shield away with your axe, for example, or kick some enemies prone with your foot then insta-kill them with your sword. One handed and two handed weapons also have their own moves. Your shield can block a lot of damage, but it only works in an arc, which varies by shield. Choosing the right weapons for the fight (you can switch 3 sets during combat) is a very tacitical and fun experience. As for the two other styles. Many have praised the magic system, soI won't repeat. As for bows... Both drawing the bow and casting magic can be interrupted by damage. Enemy likes to rush you. You do the math. The game looks pretty, even today, especially the lighting. It has some of the best imperial-era Chinese architecture I have seen in a game. You can ride a horse on the savannah. If you are a chill player, you will have a good amount to enjoy. The biggest downside is although there are four chapters, by chapter 3, the game feels like a high schooler who ran out of time on an exam and cut the third paragraph by 2/3 and tacked on a one sentence conclusion before the bell. I want to be funny, but this isn't a joke.

A great improvement over the first game

Some people say that it lacks the so-bad-it's-good charm that the first Two Worlds has. I agree with them. But that's not a disadvantage, but quite the opposite. Two Worlds 2 is a good game, with very good graphics and soundtrack. The story is also not bad. You will want to save your sister once again. The game takes place on 4 different isles with different cultures. The first serves as a tutorial. The second is called Savannah, which is in my opinion, the best made island in the game. On the third, there is a city inspired with Jappanese architecture and a wasteland. The third is the biggest, but I am not sure if you can explore it whole. Instead, the only place on that island I was in was a swamp. Oh, and a castle of an old enemy... The amount of activities you could do in the first Two Worlds was increased by playing an instrument. To play a song, you'll need an instrument and notes. Then you can play solo or with another musician, which can attract people and they may give you tips. Another interesting thing is the magic system. Each spell is made of an amulet to which you place spell cards. There are more types of cards. One gives the spell it's effect, the others gives the spell it's behaviour, determining whether the spell will be an enchantment, a bullet or an area of effect spell. You can stack these cards, thus making the spell more powerful. You can also add modifier cards that will further adjust the behaviour of the spell. In each spell amulet, you can put two, sometimes three spells. You can also upgrade your weapons and armour. Lock-picking is a nice mini-game, but you can also use auto pick-locking or just break the lock with your weapon. As for the add-on, it's also good. It takes place in an archipelago with beautiful islands. Dialogues are better than in the vanilla. It has it's own soundtrack and you can sail on your own boat, though using teleports is still more convenient. It lasts for about 8-9 hours, so someone may say it's rather short.

Magic is far from inefficient

I've seen some reviews on this claiming that while the magic system is cool, it's useless and inefficient. To that, I say, you should probably learn how to actually use the system. I was 1-shotting the spawned enemies in the final battle with a single spell. The fact that you can have you spell shoot 3 projectiles, those 3 split into 2 giving you 6 projectiles when hitting an enemy, and those 6 projectiles both ricochet off enemies and home in will leave you with a smile on your face. one spell can hit 20+ times if you slot your magic right. Two worlds 2 was good until the final act, but once the final act came it felt rushed and unfinished. I was really dissapointed when I got my boat, sailed to the island in the middle of the map, and found it COMPLETELY empty. No wildlife, no nothing. Some areas didnt even have flora in it, just plain grass texture.

Blur can't be turned off

There is a blur effect in this game whenever you run, that cannot be disabled. Very obnoxious since it is subtle and makes your eyes want to refocus. Why developers insist on forcing these crappy effects into their games is quite beyond me. I enjoyed the first Two Worlds but cannot tolerate this blur. There's also a slight camera wobble whenever you turn that can't be turned off, if you're prone to motion sickness this will drive you crazy.

Stellar Design

Whereas a lot of games are praised for their graphics or storyline, Two Worlds 2 is a game with absolutely stellar game design. This game is rightfully called a rough gem, but it shines in the parts were it takes the chores you all know and dread in RPGs and makes them fun. One of the biggest things being that there is no junk. In my experience I slew countless enemies and soon my bags were filled with loot and naturally there were a lot of duplicates and inferior weapons to my own. The game does have a weight system so naturally this started to bother me, so I took a look at it and made the discovery (that the thing I hadn't bothered to learn about while chopping up baddies) that I could simply recycle weapons and use the components to upgrade others. No sooner had I made the discovery or every lackluster item suddenly turned into a free weapon upgrade. Not only that, the weight system which had annoyed me before suddenly turned into a reminder to break down any excessive materials I had on me. We're not stopping there, however. Any lesser gems you can equip in special slots can be merged with other lesser gems of the same sort which makes any gem you got once useful till the end of the game and it also helps that you can freely take these gems out of equipment without destroying them, merge them and put the superior version back in the slot to increase your equipment's power. It helps the game so much if you do not have to worry about wasting items on equipment you may quickly outlevel and can instead have fun experimenting with them. The magic path too is based on this principle, you do not get specific spells but rather upgrade your ability to customize with spell cards which make up different spells. Ultimately that is what this game is about. Experimenting with no regrets and if you are not the type to experiment a lot then I'd recommend playing as a warrior for some good o'l hack and slash.
