Description
At the beginning of your epic adventure, a mercenary mission takes you to the far north - but you’re also following up a mysterious lead at the same time – the first clue you’ve been given since Kyra’s disappearance. You're shocked during a meeting with the delegates of a dark Brotherhood - your sister’s kidnappers are indeed after your family’s relic. Whether there’s any truth in your family being the chosen ones or not, the others obviously believe it - and if you ever want to see Kyra again, you’ll have to act swiftly. You are the only person able to unlock the secrets of a dead god's tomb, and all the forces in the land want your help to seize its power.

  • Includes the original Two Worlds along with two expansions - Tainted Blood and Curse of Souls
  • A vast and diverse world to explore, brought to life by the game's impressive visuals

Older RPGs do it better...

I wanted to try this (now quite old) game because I so much heard of it when it came out. At that moment I hadn't much time to play so I gave up. Later, I did concentrate the few time I had for videogames on Oblivion, as an Elder Scrolls saga early fan. Two Worlds II then came, and I had other games in priority. So when I found a sale on GOG, I remembered how this game did tease me, and I took the whole bunch without searching for feedback on the net. I was wrong. I'm used to play old games and I think I'm able to relativize the diverse flaws, graphical archaism, old gameplay, and so on. I was very disappointed. If I situate this game in the Oblivion period, then it easily came 10 years to late. I don't care if an old game is not as good looking as a recent one ; but there, it looks far more old than games of its year ! Someone complained about Two Worlds being compared to Oblivion, but how not to do it with such a huge gap in terms of quality, interest, deepness ? The music is quite bad and repetitive, the hero's voice and dialogues are boring and totally dumb, the main plot is simplistic (*SPOILER* you can make the "great choice", the one that seals the end of the story, 2 minutes before the final cinematic... */SPOILER* what a spoiler...), the background is muddled, the difficulty is not homogeneous in the character progression, the RPG-inherent repetitiveness of some tasks seems less bearable than in another game, ETC. I won't talk about the absolutely disastrous mounted horse management. There are many others older RPGs that have not had this so-called stature, and which are far, far more interesting. In short, buy it only on sale, if you are really curious or if you like very basic hack and slash heroic fantasy games.

Real Score = 2.5 stars

Not much to say except that i am a little disappointed in this game. I don't care that the acting is bad (very bad) or that the cut-scenes kind of stuck. Even with those the game is still fun and the story is descent. What I have a problem with are some of the bugs/lagging that i am experiencing. From other reviews it seemed the issue of bugs were fixed and maybe they were but I have experienced a few issues with this game still. Even with the random crashing (yes i tried to fix it and it crashes less but it did not stop) the game is still fun. However I have a really great computer but somehow I am having issues with poor frame rate (lag). I have also tried fixing this and again it works a little better SOME of the time. I would forgive this game its various pitfalls if it were not for the bugs/lag issues that I have had with this game. Overall disappointing game

Worse voice-acting ever.

Say this to yourselves in the voice of the fat guy from the Simpsons and... Now you get it. Writing is terrible, movement implementation sucks, many skills are realized is an unpractical, annoying or unbalanced way (use alchemy to get a billion in every stat or combine 100000 cheap swards into one, cheap+++ sword some how). Admittedly, I didn't keep playing for long, I gave up after the begging - some struggle between two clans about a mine or something, either the plot was written or the voices acting was done by a guy on crack - the result is completely illegible, also you have a Morrowind style faction reputation level that you cannot get beyond 6 (max is 10), probably because of cut content - and some of the pre-middle - you meet some guilds, a necromancer, and stuff. I was suppose to go a long way and get to the capital, but it was too awful a game to keep playing. From an exploration point of view it is big and empty, and what you do find is boring. Some say it gets better later, but I saw my brother keep playing and it really doesn't. Avoid like a plague of burning zombie alien roaches who don't use deodorant. Should be on BOG, there should be a BOG for this title specifically.

Question

I owned Two Worlds back in the day and I enjoyed it after the 1.6 patch I think it was. Still had some of the well known issues and the epic bad voice acting but I even enjoyed that. Here's where it went directly downhill. I reinstalled the game. Later I had to rebuild my computer once and then at a later point replaced a hard drive for the blisteringly fast (at the time) Velociraptor. I had to call to get a code for each reinstall. The last time, after the new hard drive, I was refused. Yea, refused. Refused and told I'd have to either buy the game again or pay for the new activation code, don't recall which it was but it amounts to the same thing. Who wants to re-buy your game every time you format or replace a drive? My question, is the GOG version still dependent on this activation code system every install/reinstall? Or is this eliminated with the magic of GOG? I wouldn't mind playing this game again in a finished state but there's no way I'm going through that kind of stupidity again. If someone could point me in the right direction here I'd be grateful.
