From what I've played, the remaster is great, but there's one nagging issue.
The performance on AMD hardware leaves something to be desired. With the the bells and whistles on, the game drops down to about 40fps on my RX 480 8GB, which should be more than enough for anything at 1080p. May not sound so bad, but it's really annoying and jarring while playing.
A big culprit seems to be Bloom, which is sad because it looks really nice, though leaving everything else on with Bloom off will only make the drops go down to like 45fps, still pretty annoying.
If this issue gets fixed, then I'll update the review, but as is, it has issues for people with AMD cards.
Was this title worth the sale price of 16.99? Yes, absolutely it was. If you're a fan of the original Turok series, then you will really enjoy this PC port. In terms of level design and action, Turok 2 really holds its own, and feels great even compared to newer titles. The higher framerate compared to the original really pumps up the action I feel. Amazing weapons. In general, it's worth the 17 bucks to buy it, go to the cheat screen, type in the master cheat, and just go haywire blowing up all sorts of enemies and monsters. Overall excellent title.
CONTROLS
-Controls are really tight on both keyboard and controller. I use an official xbox one controller, and it feels as responsive as the N64 days, much better than using the same controller with an N64 emulator.
-Mouse and keyboard control is great, really accurate, you can really shoot those dinos with pinpoint precision now.
-They've added climbing! On relevant objects, if you hold jump you can now climb! Awesome! I do wish it was applied to everything so I could get new vantage points I didn't get on N64, but it's still great nonetheless.
-Speed is faster, almost arcade-like. This to me is a positive thing.
GRAPHICS
-Gfx are crisp and clean, however, due to the age of the game, it doesn't sport a lot of polygons, and things look square and rough - at no fault of the developers.
- Motion blur actually is exciting, sometimes the enemies move too fast for you to see in a blur, and it causes you shoot everywhere like a maniac, I sincerely enjoy this new aspect, I like feeling flustered from their blurry speed.
INTERFACE
-I really appreciate the facelift the menu screen has undergone, it's clean, and has relevant options for PC.
-Full key bindings are available, thank you.
-Original cheat codes work, awesome.
MULTIPLAYER
-Haven't played too much, but it so far has been fun.
-Several servers are operative, which is actually nice.
-Skin change is easy, although I think skin type stat differences have been removed.
The charm of Turok is in his console level design, the level design may remind of platform games like Medievil, you even get lifes solve easy puzzles and get some temporary new abilities.
The enemies react to your gun shot based on the part you shot, so get ready for lots of blood, dismembering and satisfying death animations as almost every weapon impact is glorious!
Don't get this game to finished it, get it to enjoy the gore as you kill lizard people.
As the tittles says, there is plenty of things for MP absent. Maps from the N64 and PC, switch map textures. character speed, able to use cheat codes in MP.
Other than that, a solid 90's FPS. I prefer Turok 1.
Turok 2 Seeds of Evil had a Pc port back in the Days but that was very Bad :/ After all these Years This Remaster version Works Smoth and brings many features . Many will say that Turok 2 was one of the Best Games for that Time.
Its Good to see that those Old Games are making a Comeback :)
