Excellent Port

Was this title worth the sale price of 16.99? Yes, absolutely it was. If you're a fan of the original Turok series, then you will really enjoy this PC port. In terms of level design and action, Turok 2 really holds its own, and feels great even compared to newer titles. The higher framerate compared to the original really pumps up the action I feel. Amazing weapons. In general, it's worth the 17 bucks to buy it, go to the cheat screen, type in the master cheat, and just go haywire blowing up all sorts of enemies and monsters. Overall excellent title. CONTROLS -Controls are really tight on both keyboard and controller. I use an official xbox one controller, and it feels as responsive as the N64 days, much better than using the same controller with an N64 emulator. -Mouse and keyboard control is great, really accurate, you can really shoot those dinos with pinpoint precision now. -They've added climbing! On relevant objects, if you hold jump you can now climb! Awesome! I do wish it was applied to everything so I could get new vantage points I didn't get on N64, but it's still great nonetheless. -Speed is faster, almost arcade-like. This to me is a positive thing. GRAPHICS -Gfx are crisp and clean, however, due to the age of the game, it doesn't sport a lot of polygons, and things look square and rough - at no fault of the developers. - Motion blur actually is exciting, sometimes the enemies move too fast for you to see in a blur, and it causes you shoot everywhere like a maniac, I sincerely enjoy this new aspect, I like feeling flustered from their blurry speed. INTERFACE -I really appreciate the facelift the menu screen has undergone, it's clean, and has relevant options for PC. -Full key bindings are available, thank you. -Original cheat codes work, awesome. MULTIPLAYER -Haven't played too much, but it so far has been fun. -Several servers are operative, which is actually nice. -Skin change is easy, although I think skin type stat differences have been removed.

Falls off in the second half

Coming from the first Turok, Turok 2 may take some getting used to. Turok no longer moves at supersonic speeds, there are proper cutscenes now, and the game even tries to a tell a story. Thankfully, none of this lasts long enough to detract from what made the first game so enjoyable: meaty shooting against well-animated foes with more than two dozen weapons, with many of them exploding into gibs and bloods when shot. Turok 2 easily has the most enjoyable shooting in the series, and still holds up today in this regard. Those who disliked the platforming in Turok will be pleased to hear that this has mostly been done away with. The hub-based system, on the other hand, has been retained, as you visit each level from a hub, and you need to find keys to unlock new levels. The number of levels has been reduced to six, but they are much larger and more complex compared to the first Turok. On top of finding keys, one also has to solve additional objectives, such as shutting down devices or rescuing prisoners, and none of these may be missed. The main challenge therefore becomes finding all these things, and this is where Turok 2 overdoes it. As the game progresses, the levels only become larger and more complex, and the last three levels in particular test one's patience, as they consist almost exclusively of samey looking corridors over, and over, and over again. In addition, in classic Metroidvania fashion certain sections only become accessible later on, so good luck finding those specific spots many hours later without consulting a walkthrough. Accordingly, the greatest addition introduced by this remaster are the objective markers, which purists may detest, but which make the game merely playable in the first place, as you could be wandering a level for hours looking for some switch in a dark corner without them. Overall, Turok 2 oozes ambition, but you'll likely do yourself a favor quitting after the first three levels, as it'll only get worse from that point on.

Smooth as silk on today's PC's

I remember going all the way to America to get the "Unrated" version of this game on CD-Rom - though I never was sure quite what the difference was with the UK release. But here it is on GOG and whoever has worked their magic to get this running on a modern PC is very cool indeed. You have a plethora of menu options to adjust the game just the way you like it. By default the music is N64 but I've only ever known the PC version so I switched to that. Sometimes with these ports it doesn't quite feel how you remember due to various technical reasons but this one definitely does if like me you bought the CD-Rom version back in the day. I would have given 5 stars but there is a good deal of running around in massive circles wondering where the hell to go next. That part I didn't like. But for its day this was a very sophisticated game, and I love the extreme amounts of blood that come gushing out of the dinosaurs. Pleased to say it runs smoothly on the trainwreck that is Windows 10.

A bloodier, badder, better sequel

Right off the bat, I really loved Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. It was a non-linear, fun, satisfying FPS with gratifying exploration-based gameplay. I began Turok 2 immediately after beating it in 2021, but I abandoned it for some reason... Now, after picking it up again in the wake of the announcement of Turok 3's remaster, all I have to say is THIS IS THE BEST FPS FROM THE N64, BAR NONE [with one of Night Dive's best remasters to boot]. It improves on the non-linearity and exploration of the first game, giving you larger environments to traverse with some of the most eye catching level design I've ever seen. You're also given objectives, from finding level keys like in the first game, to rescuing innocents and destroying enemy armories. And of course, you're encouraged to use 'Talismans' which give you powers to explore further and go back to prior sections to see what you missed. This results in a long, very varied game where the variety of things you do helps add some longevity to the experience... But that's not what you'll remember about Turok 2 as above all else, the game succeeds as a shooter. Turok 2 features a larger weapon roster than its predecessor spanning two weapon wheels, and not only do these weapons feel satisfying to use like before, but they're probably even more satisfying because THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST VIOLENT FPS GAMES I'VE EVER PLAYED. A head shot on a raptor causes blood to spill out from its decapitated neck, explosives can tear a Dinozoid in half, you can punch a hole in a War Club with a shotgun and you see the ribcage! It's RoboCop levels of satisfying bloodshed! AND I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT! With improved level design, superior, bloodier combat, and tons of mileage for your buck, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is more than a recommendation: It's a must-play. And the remaster's QOL improvements only add to a game brimming with delightful deliciousness.

What a game!

I used to play this on the N64 when it first come out (such a solid game) it's better than before ! Playing it on pc has a good feel where the player can move about more easily compared to the stick on the old controller, there is an option to turn the hints off and make it like how a "game" should be. I've hit nostalgia city with this one. Thankyou for making this remaster!
