Turok

I'm glad Nightdive remastered this old gem of a game from the N64 era. As a kid, I tried (and failed) to play this game on the N64, but found it to be too difficult, given the horrendously short draw distance and awful control scheme. Both of those things have now been fixed in this remaster, and the game is now much more accessible. I had a lot of fun! The levels are huge and filled with cool things to find. My only complaint is that the enemies respawn too quickly. Especially on the later levels, you will often find yourself just running past enemies to save on ammo (which is a limited resource), since they're just going to respawn anyways. As a result, you rarely feel safe enough to do a lot of thorough exploration. And given how obscure some of the secrets are, you will definitely need a guide if you are trying to 100% everything. But aside from that, I wouldn't sleep on this game if you're into old school shooters- the music, the level design, the weapons, the bosses, and the whole overall presentation is excellent and definitely worth playing!

Apart from some plataform sections and hiden objectives (that can be found verry esly if you pay enough atention) This is an incredbly fun game, with a great soundtrack, good level design and it works perfectly with a controler

Excellent game. Hard to believe it's almost 20 yrs old. Fun weapons, nice effects, large world, fair difficulty, and many levels. The standard price is outrageously steep as of this review - $20. Uh, no thanks. On sale for 75% off will get my (and others') attention. I'm sure Turok 2 will follow at some point (fingers crossed), which is even better. Good stuff, GOG.

Fantastic remaster, reminds me of the Perfect Dark remaster for XBLA. Night Dive didn't modify the artistic style of the original... not much at least. What they did do is bump up the fps, resolution, and controls; which changes the gameplay from slow paced / hard to aim trudge into a faced paced / silky smooth rampage. The painstaking platform jumping is a breeze now. This is Turok just as I remember it in the 90s, except I'm enjoying it this time. This is the remaster I never new I wanted.

Solid old-school gunplay, great atmosphere and art and decent platforming
