Turbo Overkill DEMO is available here

Half-metal, half-human, half-crazy

Heavily inspired by some of the all-time greats like Doom, Duke Nukem and Quake, with stunning cyberpunk visuals, Turbo Overkill is the most savage FPS ever released by Apogee. You play as half-metal, half-human, half-crazy Johnny Turbo, augmented with hidden arm rockets and a chainsaw that extends from your lower leg allowing you to kick-slice enemies wide open.

In this Blade Runner-meets-DOOM hellscape, Johnny returns to his hometown of Paradise and finds its entire population possessed by Syn, a rogue AI, and its army of augmented minions. Desperate for enough money to outrun his past mistakes, Johnny takes on the impossible job of destroying the greatest AI ever created. Rival bounty hunters want to claim the prize first. Nothing is easy in paradise.

Hero Time, wall-running, dashing and grappling hooks, oh my

Turbo Overkill takes over-the-top to never-before-reached heights. Activate Hero Time(™), a new form of slow motion with a twist. Build incredible speed by wall-running and dashing. Slide on your chainsaw leg, eviscerating foes and opening up bosses for critical damage, and go car-surfing on the hoods of flying cars. Blast away with the Twin Magnums, which lock-on and instagib several foes, the Boomer Shotgun and its attached grenade launcher, or the Telefragger sniper rifle, which teleports Johnny inside an enemy before they explode from within. The FPS genre is about to get wild and fun again.

Race through two dozen stages packed with secrets, bonus arena stages, and white-knuckle combat puzzles. Find game-changing collectibles to unlock punishing modifiers like triple-monster-speed and insta-kill. Combine all of Johnny’s weapons and powers to outsmart, outgun and outrun the corrupted legions.

TL;DR:

o Kill a boss, get its augment (special power)
o Play Spider-Man with your grappling hook
o One-up Duke Nukem with your chainsaw kick
o Kills = cash. Use cash to install augments, upgrade your weapons, and add new abilities in your talent tree
o Be a ghost runner while wall running
o Attack from above riding the hood of your flying car like a kung-furious badass
o Mini-rockets built into your robotic arm? ✔
o This. List. Will. Grow. Wishlist the game to see it happen

Don't quote us on nuthin'

Turbo Overkill is fast, frenetic and ferocious—excess personified,” said Sam Prebble, one half of Trigger Happy Interactive. “This is the game we’ve always wanted to play; making it is a dream project. Relentless enemies, extremely deadly and fun weapons, speed and precision above all else—if you love Quake III Arena, modern and classic DOOM, or Apogee’s legendary first-person shooters, you’ll feel right at home in Paradise.”

“As the guy who helped launch the shooter genre with Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Max Payne, and Prey, I haven’t been this excited about an FPS since the golden era of Apogee/3D Realms,” wrote Scott Miller, founder. “Turbo Overkill is a sandbox of fun and original gameplay ideas that come together like a night of melty hot pizza and your favorite cold, frothy brew. Playing this game made me a Turbo Lover all over again.”

The Most Excellent Shooter Ever

Title says it all, Turbo Overkill is the most fun I've had with a shooter in probably 10 years. It expands and iterates on every advancement in the genre by other games, improves them and then lets you mess around with a massive and expansive set of arsenals. Did you like the bullet time in other games like Trepang and FEAR? Yep, we've got that and it's some of the best slowdown in any shooter I've ever played. How about the obligatory grappling hook which every game feels the need to put in after Doom Eternal? Boom, it's here too and feels more fluid and engaging than it was in Doom or any other game for that matter. How about weapon upgrades? Yep, more weapon upgrades in this game than there are weapons in other games, and they all actually change the flow and mechanics present. You never feel like your arsenal is stale because guns you've been using are constantly getting upgrades and improving. A huge yet thoughtful range of weapons? Bingo. Guns in TOK are purpose driven, distinct, visually impactful with stellar auido design behind every shot. How about a TON of enemies, all with unique skills and weaknesses and a need for the player to change how they approach each one in Doom 2016 style? Yep, we've got that too and we've got that in spades! Hey, I know what you're thinking: "wow, this sounds like a great shooter! What else is there though?" Let me blow your mind here: multiple, fully fleshed out and distinct vehicle sections with unique vehicles each time. No, these arn't filler vehicle sections like you see in other games (*cough Phantom Fury cough*). These vehicles add a huge amount of dynamism to the game and properly wow me every time I replay them. I was actually shocked with the scope of this game, just when you think you've got it down they come around and add a new mechanic or a vehicle and all of the sudden the whole game has changed. To top it off it has the best sound track in any shooter, EVER. 100/100 play this masterpiece.

Not as good as I hoped it would be.

Really struggling to see what other people see to be honest. The shooting feels completely weightless and floaty and every gun may look different but feel exactly the same with no unique distinction between them. The jumping/platforming also feel very floaty and just plain wrong. The level design is also awful. So awful in fact I swear that a visually impaired person designed it. I have literally soft-locked myself and had to find workarounds several times. Plus the game is quite buggy too and certain bosses/enemies feel cheap and badly placed. The framerate also dips from 240 to sometimes as low as 24fps when interacting with certain objects in the game. Not a good game, far from it. There are a lot of elements in DooM Eternal that I don't like. For example the emphasis on purple goo, platforming, swimming, lore etc. But the gameplay overrides these aspects. Where Turbo Overkill doesn't have that going for it.

Excellent FPS that stands tall

Yes, lot's of jumping. When you can land on an enemies head with a chainsaw leg? Who cares. Breakneck pace, extremely intense, and a gorgeous art style to boot! It reminds me alot of the old build engine greats, in the way it FEELS, not plays. I think some are being a bit too critical of this game, although in the current state of gaming it is understandable. Love the enemy variety, and there is a good amount of tactical planning that is in play here. Overall, 4.5/5 for me, but rating it 5 to combat some of the reviews I feel are unfair.

I haven't had this much fun since BPM

Great boomer shooter with tons of references to 80's actions films and semi-recent games. It's like a combination of Ultrakill and Doom. The movement is fast and feels good, there is A TON of gore ( which you can crank up to ridiculous levels if you find the chips ) and the story is mostly interesting. I had way too much fun playing and after binging it for a week, finally 100% it. The only complaint(s) I have are that the dialogue is pretty cringy at times and certain characters are overacted. I feel like this was intentional and it didn't really take away from my enjoyment. Additionally, explosives and melee will kill you dead in a single hit a lot of times. This led to some frustration early on ( and at the end stage ) where I was in small rooms packed with enemies that were all flinging explosives and their own bodies across the level and I was pretty regularly getting killed by things off-screen I eventually got an ability that allowed me to heal and get armor from chainsaw kills, got way more aggressive and this problem mostly went away. This is a polished game and aside from some hitbox wonkyness ( things hitting that shouldn't. The green acid and the guy that shoots it are the worst offenders ) I didn't really run into bugs or performance issues. Solid game. Loved it.

One of the best modern shooters to come

I love when movement in a game is a gameplay mechanic. Dashing, jumping, grappling and sliding around is a joy even when there are no enemies around. The guns are amazing and varied The levels are big and fun to traverse. This game can sit next to Ion Fury, Dusk, Amid Evil and Cultic. If you like shooters, buy this game.
