Still a beautiful game

The whole atmosphere of Trine is wonderful. While Trine 3 was a kind of bomb (I still liked it somewhat), we are now back to 2.5D. Puzzles are easier, but still a lot of content to play through. The puzzles are slightly modified if you play co-op game, so you can basically play the game a second time if you find somebody. Overall it is quite a nice successor, with somewhat more improved gameplay mechanics and streamlined (and easier) puzzles. And last but not least: It is a great game to play with kids!

Pretty good.

Not much to say. If you liked Trine 1 and 2, you will enjoy this one. A bit on the casual side when it comes to overall difficulty, but still very enjoyable. However, I am taking the one star off for simply discarding the story started in Trine 3, completely ignoring it (outside of 1 very minor reference after you collect all the secrets) and pretending it never happened. I get that they wanted to distance themselves from Trine 3 as much as possible but getting rid of the previously started story by just saying "we won" simply won't do. Especially when Trine 3 was probably the only one that had an actually interesting plot (before it abruptly stops).

A 4.7/5.0 on my personal scala

What I did not expect to become a series was the first Trine game that pulled me in from the first start. Here we are now, 3 games later and wow, a lot has changed. While I always remember Trine 1+2 as more or less "2D games" it is Trine 4 that combines the attempt of going crazy 3D from Trine 3 with one of the loveliest worlds and gameplays I've ever experienced. In my opinion classic Trine that lives up to the modern times. And since the majority of puzzles in the previous Trine games were a bit too difficult for my personal taste, I find it good this part of the Trine series takes it a bit easier with the player ... however there are still some puzzles that really turn me off as they seem to rely on all kinds of random factors.

Great co-op puzzler

If you want a strong sense of adventure, living in a fairy-tale, if you will, this will get you going. At least when it comes to the graphics. Me and my co-op partner kept stopping and having a look at the backgrounds all the time. The puzzles were a lot of fun, and they are a little bit different from singleplayer. Nothing too hard, but I don't want to get stuck all the time either, and easy/difficult differs from person to person. The controls are good, and will keep you entertained for quite some time. By the way, Trine 1-3 are also great games. They are all cheap and absoloutely worth it, especially for the co-op!
