The year is 1989 and deep in the sweltering heat of the Mayan jungle, camouflaged among the Inca ruins, Ernesto Cruz catches his breath for a few moments and admires his handiwork, bodies strewn across the temple ruins, as he makes a last gasp effort to board a DEA plane to take him to safety. He never made it home, the tragic victim of an alleged 'overdose’. Two weeks later, Ernesto's son, Ramiro Cruz is hauled out of jail by the DEA to be told his twin brother, Tommy, works for them as an undercover agent and has some new information about their father's death. But, Tommy has had an accident with a hand grenade and now Ramiro must take his brother's place in an undercover operation closing in on the ruthless drug cartel overlord Papa Muerte.
Take control of Ramiro Cruz, a man on a crazy mission through Mexico's drug-fuelled underworld. An amazing combat system keeps the action intense, mixing third person action with an incredible combo system for maximum carnage - and maximum replayability. Hilarious special moves and a huge amount of weaponry makes Total Overdose as frantic and fun an adventure as you could ever hope to find, and a red-hot latin soundtrack fits the action perfectly. This can be the perfect Latino gangsta sandbox game you were looking for all your life!
A rich storyline as it takes you through 18 different environments, from the seedy red light district of Los Toros to the depths of the Mexican desert.
Take down your enemies with a free-style combat and stunt system that gives you more outrageous moves than you can shake a hot chili at.
Meet über-cool characters and take part in missions with a strong whiff of tequila.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
Put together Max Payne, GTA and Just Cause; Add lots of Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and BOOM! That's good old Total Overdose, one of the most underrated games ever! Not a work of a genius, but so intensively fun it hurts.
It's a nice game, frankly I just bought it because I wanted to play it again, there was just something about this game that I enjoyed as a kid, maybe the fact that it is so ridiculous and absurd, the problems that I have with it tho have to do with the fact that the game it's so stupid, and racist, literally anyone that isn't american it's either a drug dealer, or just stupid, the game it's plagated with stereotypes and slurs, constantly shifting back and foward from english to spanish, etc...
I really like the gameplay, but in terms of just the concept of the game, I have to say it's like the petty interpretation of a caricature of what Mexico is, and it ends up making the people that created this game look worse, than the ficticious presentation of the country their trying to re-create.
This is one of the worst shooters I have played, ever out of hundreds this is at the bottom.
I will say GOG did a good job getting this turd to work on modern computers considering it was on PS2 it is pretty old.
Essentially this is a really bad dumbed down Max Payne with no style and lots of fake bravado.
Mercenaries is the Good game that this badly attempted to add bullet time to.
At least it was cheap I initially bought this for PS2 already knowing it was one of the worst games on that platform.
The case had no disc so I looked and Gog had the PC version, thank you so much for saving me from dropping 15 on another disc.
is it a bad game, no...not at all. it can be fun. the problem is it feels like it's trying to be GTA3, and i already been there and did that. it is also influenced by "max payne" and "desperado" and a few others.
now that's not such a bad thing but what really puts me off is the overkill with CUT SCENES, OMG!!!! the developers really got carried away with cut scenes, they just keep interrupting gameplay, i don't mind cut scenes before the game starts and after you beat the game but for the love of all that is good please don't force them upon us during gameplay! the specs are really low end so it's great for an older crappy PC but i have all kinds of games i would much rather play. get it if it's on sale for like a dollar or less maybe.
