Tormented Souls has very clear inspirations from early Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but it manages to focus on the best aspects of both, with great atmosphere, ambience filled with dread, great puzzles and some fantastic gameplay.
The story was fun, taking a page from other horror stories, but had some interesting twists and ideas that really came around in the end.
I did feel that some of the gore was a bit much (like, it was more trying to shock than to actually be relevant or impactful). Not to mention, some of the animation in cutscenes was a bit rough, and the voice acting felt like trying too hard, to a point that it felt silly.
That said, the game manages to scare and inspire. I'm really looking forward for what the devs come up with next, and hope that they take into consideration the best and worst aspects of this to make something even better.
If you like classic Survival Horror action, this is a pretty good one to add to your collection.
This game surprised me so much. Im a big fan of the old Fixed Camera Angles and Tank controls of past Resident Evil games. I knew this game was going for that old school feel and they nailed it. Out of all the old RE games, Code Veronica was always my favorite because of how odd and weird it was compared to the other RE games, plus the puzzles, Tormented Souls gives me that same feeling, with how strange it is. not to mention they crazy hard almost unfair puzzles, you HAVE TO BE PRECISE for these puzzles, it is insane how specific you gotta be and how much you gotta use your head to slove it. And I love it for that. I love Tormented Souls. Legit surprised at how much I love this game. The story may be predicitable, but I quite enjoyed. Voice Acting could use a little work, but I guess that'll always be a quirk that these fixed camera angle games lack. I can go on more about it, but just to end it here. Its a good game. If you like hard puzzles, tank controls, fixed camera angles and horror, I highly recommend Tormented Souls
While I am still playing through this title I still had to stop by to post a review. When playing this I can tell they put heart into this game. It surprisingly feels of good quility with a unquie art style. while some aspects may come off as simple I think this works great as its not trying to be overwhelming to the point it makes you want to walk away but actually come back to play more.
Very nice game, greate effort to bring back old nostalgy. RE and SH put back togheter. This game will not hold your hand, you must figure it out yourself.
