Perfectly scratched my "PS1 horror" itch
If you are old enoughto have played or just enjoyed playing the OG Resident Evil style (RE1-RE:CVX), SILENT HILLS 1 &2, Alone in the Dark 4, etc., STOP THINKING AND JUST SPEND YOUR MONEY. It states right in the description that these series were the inspiration for this game, but I can't tell you how many games i've played that claim that and just aren't remotely like them. It's surprisingly smootha and on a graphical level compares to RE1make from the Gamecube. Very little jank. Think of REmake on GC but with the same jank level as the OG Resident Evil Trilogy from PS1. There are some tropes taken to the extreme though, for instance the game takes place in a hospital that happens to be inside of a mansion (LMAO). But if anything it adds to the charm. The voice acting straddels the line between AI generated and decent/mid tier( better than the the OG resident evil trilogy). Sometimes, if an enemy is outside of a door camped, when you load in the enemy can land hits on you before you gain control of your character in the room, but experiened players of the genre won't be held back by this. Overall this was such a surprise. I'm a tremendous fan of all the above mentioned series, and just hype that this style recives such a great release like this. There is definitely a market for it. I like it so much, I plan to pay full price for the 2nd game just to support success and interest in this series. I don't see fans of the 90's and early 2000s survival horror genre not loving this.
