Description
When Lara was only 16, she was tutored in archaeology by Professor Werner Von Croy, a world-famous archaeologist. Skip forward now, to find Lara in Egypt, minding her own business until a pool of quicksand pulls her underground, deep into an ancient tomb. Here she unwittingly releases the evil god Set, and for the rest of the game her ultimate aim is to recapture him and return him to his prison. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation follows her quest through 43 levels, all set in the same underground world, so the story moves as seamlessly and effortlessly as the famous Tomb Raider herself.
In Tomb Raider Chronicles, Lara is still missing in Egypt and there is no word about her whereabouts. Fearing the worst, her closest friends arrange a service in her honor and to share their insights about some of Lara’s more mysterious exploits. Tomb Raider Chronicles offers new insights into the past adventures of Lara Croft along with a host of new weapons such as the grappling hook gun and a sniper rifle. If you feel creative and want to make your own adventures, the official Tomb Raider Level Editor is included with the game.
Includes Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider Chronicles.
Utilize new moves to overcome obstacles: walk along tightropes, swing across parallel bars, and stealthily attack your enemies with silent hand-to-hand combat takedowns.
Explore tombs as a teenage Lara Croft discovering her roots as an adventurer.
Highly interactive environments: light torches, swing from ropes, and kick down doors.
Core Design had become burned out on TR during development of The Last Revelation and it shows. Lara's butt stuffed in tight shorts is about the only saving grace of that game and its sequel.
I can't really understand those nostalgic feelings about this one. Aye, Tomb Raider 1-3 were outstanding adventure games, but this one...? Just no. The problem is not the difficulty. It is just a complete trial and error mess from beginning to end. Sometimes you have to make jumps where you have to hit a three pixels wide angle to avoid being set on fire and end up trying that jump 20 times before it works by pure chance. Then you have to force your way through traps that drain your health massively and wich you can't avoid. You find plenty of medkits so that is not that big of an issue, but come on, what kind of messed up game design is this? Even with using exploits, you will hit quicksave and quickload way more often than in all the predecessors combined. I don't even have to mention that the puzzles don't make much sense, you'll just have to search every square foot of the huge areas to finally find the small gap in a shadowy corner to finally move on. They had some good ideas, to be fair - the hub levels like Alexandria are a really cool idea, but it does not make up for all the massive issues the game design has. There are quite a lot of bugs, too, like when moving under water and drown because you get stuck in corners over and over again. Oh, and the screen solution doesn't work with modern systems so I can't even see my health bar, but that's just a foot note at this point.
Core design were obviously tired of doing the same game over and over again, and it shows - that's the main reason the designers killed Lara at the end, by the way. Eidos should have taken away the franchise from core much earlier - Tomb Raider 4 would have been a good moment.
Wow, talking about bad Tomb Raider games, The Last Revelation is the worst i ever played. Levels are so bad and confusing that i needed game guide most of my play through. Also traps are in such a troll positions that make you so mad and frustrated. Also game NEVER shows you what and where were doors were opened and also i missed one weapon that i never got. Play it for the story and then never again.
Chronicles is .... meh, mediocre TR game. It better than TLR but not great. On the last level i got a nasty bug but thank to TR community, it is solvable (i recommend different saves at different time/positions).
