Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts have rather odd jobs: they give dying people another chance to live. Literally. Using a technology that allows artificial memories to be implanted, the doctors can weave and transform the mind of a patient to help them live the life they wanted to live...
To The Moon follows Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts' attempt to fulfill the wishes of a dying elderly man, Johnny. In their attempt to do so, they travel deep through the man's memories, unfolding his curious life story before their eyes. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the fragmented events that spanned a lifetime, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish.
Johnny's last wish is, of course, to go to the moon.

While there is very little gameplay to be seen this is probably the best thing to come out of RPG Maker. It has a very moving story and is told exceptionally well. It is almost as sad as the beginning of Up. I hope the sequel can recapture what this game did.
This game is a gem. Though it was only a few hours long, it is definitely going down in my books as one of my favorite gaming experiences to date. It was intricately and excruciatingly moving, and with witty humor tastefully sprinkled throughout!
As others have stated, this is not a challenging game filled with tricky sequences of action or brain-teasing puzzles; quite simply, it's more of a visual novel. That's fine if that's not up your alley, but (especially considering the extremely modest price) I would beg you to try something different and give this game a go.
To the moon touched on my nostalgia for sprite and pixel based games, I went into this thinking it would be simplistic, and yet I came out from it knowing my initial thoughts had been wrong,
In addition to a beautiful soundtrack, environment and characters, the serious tone mixed with light comedy made it well worth the time playing. And every time I thought a part could not be topped, it outdid itself in writing, puzzles, and mini-games; it really goes to show that a game can make you do way more than a double-take at what you really think is going on with the plot and all of the characters, not just the elderly gentleman with the final wish.
There were a few glitches I encountered, and had to run it in windowed but nothing to stop me from completing the game or enjoying the story.
It was a crazy ride. And I enjoyed it. And look forwards to future games from Freebird games.
Don't be afraid by the cute Japanese-RPG style (I know it was my case), this game has a very mature and well written story, and the graphics are surprisingly well suited. It will make you laugh, it will make you sad, it will make you think...
Just play it !
I played it the first time and thought it was excellent but a few things contradicted in my initial interpretation. I decided to see what other people thought and theirs made more sense regarding the events in chronological order (which would have been more obvious the second time). But I just wish I had done it a second time to get it myself. 5 stars for the game, 0 to me for lack of effort.
