Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts have rather odd jobs: they give dying people another chance to live. Literally. Using a technology that allows artificial memories to be implanted, the doctors can weave and transform the mind of a patient to help them live the life they wanted to live...
To The Moon follows Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts' attempt to fulfill the wishes of a dying elderly man, Johnny. In their attempt to do so, they travel deep through the man's memories, unfolding his curious life story before their eyes. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the fragmented events that spanned a lifetime, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish.
Johnny's last wish is, of course, to go to the moon.

I actually started playing that game after listening to its soundtrack, expecting something great and atmospheric, and the game delivered.
The story is very moving and actually made me cry in the end. The hours spent in this game are among my dearest memories, and the music consistently ends up in the queue of my music player.
I totally recommend this to anyone who has a soul.
Not really a standard game with normal gameplay, obstacles, enemies, fights etc etc. This was more like controlling a very beautiful movie. It still felt like a game so it was never a problem for me.
Very charming graphics, good music with a very sad and beautiful story combined with strong main characters is what makes this game fantastic. This is not for stressed gamers who wants to get immediate response all the time. This is for gamers that are a bit more sensitive and prefer games with a good single player adventure.
Totally recommended! Not too short, not too long. Quite perfect length for a game of this type!
First of all, i would like to issue a warning. This isn't what i would truly call a game. It's more of a interactive adventure of sorts. There's not much in the way of gameplay, you control the two characters through environments and look for objects to get you to the next area, but that's it. There's no game over or failure, just story.
Now, let's get to the review!
The story of to the moon takes place in the near future where new technology has allowed us to enter peoples memories and change them, thus changing peoples lives, atleast that's what they believe with their altered memories. You play as two scientists who's newest patient is a dying man named Johnny. He has a quite unique request, he want's to believe that he went to the moon in his lifetime and it's the two scientists job to travel backwards through Johnnys memories to convince his younger self to aspire to be an astronaut.
I'm usually quite resilient to emotional stories and rarely do i cry or start sobbing from games, books, movies etc. This game however has one of the strongest, most emotional storys I have ever experienced, in a game or otherwise. It manages this without being too serious and mixes it's heartfelt moments with truly funny ones as well.
The gameplay is more or less non-existant, as I mentioned in my discalimer at the start of the review, with you only exploring the environments, listening to dialogue and solving some light puzzles.
The game is made with the RPGmaker software and therefore has a 16-bit feel to it, with some nicely hand drawn backgrounds.
Lastly the music. The music in this game is top notch, and perfectly catches the essence of the game. Together with the story it is definately the games high-point. For some listening reccomendations i would point you towards the main theme and eveything's alright which can be found on youtube.
This is definatley one of the best games ever made, and i would reccomend everyone to experience it's exceptional story. Prepare for tears.
I never knew I could develop such an emotional attachment to a bunch of pixels.
Short game - you can complete it in one sitting.
Story focused - what a story... *sniff*
FANTASTIC music - you really should buy the soundtrack as well.
There's already two extra short-mini stories, a pre-sequel, and a sequel; and the third game comes out later this year (2020), I believe.
Seriously, do yourself a favour and buy this game/series.
