Discover the Courage that Turns Heroes Into Legends

In this epic quest of good versus evil, players will encounter the greatest villains of Greek mythology, brave the attacks of Cerberus, and hazard the banks of the River Styx. A cult A-RPG? (if the term applies)

I'm not a review-games kinda guy, but I think this one deserves it. And also, I wasn't immerse in gaming back in 2006 when this game came out, so I started playing TQ like a month and something ago. How old is this game? 14 years! This anniversay edition might have some things remastered/remade, but I don't think the core game was changed much. That said, this game is like a love letter to gamers. I see little elements that remind me of other A-RPG games (like Diablo or Grim Dawn), this one feels unique and I now understand why other games, like GD, copied some elements from TQ. The game is well balanced, challenging and fun to play. Monsters and bosses also feel unique. I'm not going around kiling stuff and saying: "Hey, this one looks like 'X' monster from 'Y' game!". Also, the sceneries and the historic landmarks in-game are on point. Overall, I LOVE TQ! You should definitely give it a go!

still VERY good - but the age does show

This game just got another add-on in late 2021.. reason enough to play it again. and what can i say, it is STILL one of the better hack & slash games out there. the good: + graphics ! which is weird for a game almost 15 years old, but more recent updates added some newer effects etc + soundtrack really adds flavour to the setting ++ character developement! so many class combinations possible, it´s stunning the bad: - no autoloot. you really have to click on the items you want to pick up - small inventory, forcing you to townport and sell quite often - technical problems, the engine suffers from "hiccups" sometimes, even on modern high end systems

My thoughts

Back in 2006 I played the hell out of the demo and fallen in love with the Greeek mitology setting and the beautiful graphics. After buying the full version here a decade later though... I had to realize how stockholm-syndrome inducing this genre is. Since then, I'm completely aware of how these type of games are grindy by their nature, but it was a genuine shock on my part, I hadn't played Diablo, or much of any other similar games at that point. I still admit though: I kinda like Titan Quest. The masteries are fun, graphics still look fantastic, the music and sound design is great, so... there are quite a lot of stuff here to praise. It's just disappointing how much the game can drag forever with its dull dungeons and clone trooper enemies. I guess I'm not from the core target audience... or just more critical in thinking(?) Either way, I enjoy starting a new character and seeing how a different mastery works, so... not sure. Anyway, Titan Quest is a fun game if you are a die hard fan of the genre, or just want a time killer that doesn't need too much thinking - just keep in mind that it's exactly as grindy and over-dragged (the campaign goes forever, and the story is pretty much bare bones) as other games from the genre.

The very best hack and slash game.

Titan Quest is, in my opinion, better than the games from which it draws inspiration and the reasons for this I will list below. First, we have the fact that if your enemy is holding a weapon or wearing armor then they will drop it when they die. Next, we have the skill system that keeps the game fresh through multiple playthroughs. And finally, we have the mythological setting which, to this day, still feels unique and fun. 10/10 would reccomend if you like hack n slash.

The corrupted saves flaw IS NOT FIXED.

As already reviewed by GhostC there is a corrupted save flaw in this game. After over 140 hours of play, on two characters both leveled upto level 20, I abruptly get kicked out of play and can not return to those character at all. That is a lot of character development to lose! When trying to start the game on the corrupted characters all I get is the game trying to log on and then dropping out again almost immediately and the system trying to sync with the cloud saved games and around and around again and again. I will give it one more try and then it goes into the trash heap. I have enjoyed playing and it is easy to log on to play for just a few minutes or even hours and would have given it at least 4 stars. I am giving it 2 stars only because while it works it is enjoyable.
