Time Commando

As I remember the game, its a pretty simple straight forward game. You have to save a supercomputer from a virus, by going through a virtual reality through simulated time. And between the fights you have to solve some puzzles now and then. The graphics were a stunner when the game came out, so if some thinks this game is short and repetitive, then I guess the graphics have been completely lost on them. And I found it very fun to bash through enemies with weapons from that time period. And later in the game you get more advanced and ranged weapons, making you have to change tactics. The close range weapons are a bit repeteive, by they do have different ranges and attacks. And when it comes to games being short, I find it much better than when some games have 30 hours of game time, but 25 hours of repetition without anything new in it. This game as I remember it, always bring something new every step of the way. Not yards of 3D models that you have seen 50 times before.

I admit... I would normally give this thing a 5, but my rating is mostly due to nostalgia factor--playing this game as a kid and whatnot. I will most likely pick it up whenever I can--it's too classic for me not to! Plus, fond memories of watching my Dad play it. Also, has some interesting levels and devices. Perhaps, it might best be rated at a 3.5 or so--controls can be a frustration, as they aren't as tight as videogames nowadays.

I played this game long time ago when I was a kid, for me this game is the essence of what a video game can achieve: - Good athmosphere through levels - Great adventures with bonuses - Lot of weapons and ennemis - Very good graphics for the time - Fun fun fun ! I recomend it, even if I feel nostolgic studios are not doing game like this today...

Dec 1996, Pentium 120, 8M EDO, 14-inch CRT, oh...... Hard level is as difficult as 27 years before.
