Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game set in the world of The Witcher that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics.
Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran and queen of two Northern Realms — Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

This game made me interested in playing cards for the first time in my life :-) Although I had never played Gwent I was able to win some battles and actually could not wait for another one :-) For me it's another trademark of CD Projekt Red proving they always come out with perfect games.
The tale of the game is simply amazing and I prefer it over Netflix series for real.
Thumbs up!
Just finished the game after several days of playing. I'll keep it short and simple:
Story - 9/10, Solid and engaging with meaningful choices throughout.
Gameplay - 8/10, Card games generally are not for me, but CDPR made it as engaging as they could, albeit the none-puzzles were a tad too easy generally speaking.
Graphics - 9/10, Gorgeous visuals throughout, from the cutscenes, to the map, to the cards themselves, truly enjoyed just exploring and indulging in what was there to be seen.
Length - 6/10, For me personally, it slightly overstayed its welcome, by the end I just wanted to get to the finish, but that may be in part, due to my completionist attitude.
Overall - 8/10, A solid experience within the Witcher Universe. I highly suggest it for fans of the previous games, or card games in general. To newcomers who are not into card games, I would likely avert them until after playing Witcher 3 or Gwent.
I cant wait for the next tale!
I really enjoyed my team with thronebreaker. The story and characters are well done, the gwent matches are fun and there's also quite a bit of variation to them (especially the puzzles). There are also some references hidden in the game! I definitely recommend it!
I played the Gwent beta for quite a while, and I've been playing new Gwent since it release (and am not nearly as hyper-critical of it as many seem to be; they said lots would change, and lots did change, but the strategic difference from other online card games is still there, but this isn't a Gwnet review, so...), so I'd like to imagine I'm reasonably good at Gwent. One of the biggest draws of Gwent (the standalone game, not the Witcher 3 mini-game, I never played that) is how strategic it all is. There is significantly less RNG in Gwent than in Hearthstone, which is the only other major online card game I've played, and it's the reason I like Gwent better. I say all this because I was really hoping for Thronebreaker to be...well, harder.
I love the story, I don't think CDPR can even write a bad story, and the base building/resource management mechanics are pretty good, too. But the actual matches? I started on the highest difficulty available (if a harder one unlocks after beating the game, I don't know because I lost motivation by the last map), and by the end of the second map, I was literally making up restrictions for myself in order to try and spice up the gameplay. I've consistently won every round I've played in this game with 0 mulligans and using random golds and trinkets each time. I do like this game, enough to put almost 50 hours into it, and I intend to replay it again to pick other story options. But man...if you're not one to be interested in characters and plot twists and are just looking for a challenging PvE card game experience, you might want to pass this one up. Otherwise, I can give it a hearty recommendation, especially if you want some free gold cards in the standalone Gwent game.
