Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game set in the world of The Witcher that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics.
Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran and queen of two Northern Realms — Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

This is an incredible addition to Gwent my favorite CCG.
I love The Witcher lore and specially Gwent, which although it is hard to fully understand it is so much fun to play.
I just wish more "story RPG" would be added, since there is so much from "The Witcher" universe which we would like to know about.
I wasn't expecting as good game as it is. Voice acting top notch! And almost everything is voice acted. You don't need to read a lot if you're lazy as me while gaming ;) True RPG experience and your choice does matter! Need some polish here and there but this is day 2 review. Well done!
hello, I want to know if you plan to add Czech localization. I understand that we are a small country and the power is probably not worth it, but we can also translate it to the fans for providing texts. Thank you in advance.
Let's start with the positive:
• The story is top notch, it's very well written, let's you stay curious and it's easy to get into, especially if you have played the Witcher games.
• If you love Gwent you will get a loooooot of content, even just the first two maps are probably worth the price for todays standards.
• Playing the game is like reading a good book tension wise, it will keep your curious but it's not as immersive as the Witcher games and has no thrill moments due to the game's nature.
• The speakers are top notch, even the localization (German) is top notch.
What can be improved:
• The rare rewards from treasure chests you get in game are sometimes for the multiplayer Gwent game. I don't like nor play the multiplayer Gwent game. Instead of happyness you get meh-ness when opening a chest to find those multiplayer rewards.
• I'd wish I could speed up the speakers, after an hour or so it slowly creeping to the boring side overall. This is kind of interesting because all the parts are pretty well done. The Gwent puzzles, the game play, the collecting, however the progression is rather slow. If you can sink hours into a book however, this pace may be perfect for you.
One last hint:
Play this game on the hardest difficulty, it's not hard it feels like regular difficulty. I can't imagine what any difficulty below that feels like. However this is also caused by the nature of the game.
I will start, by saying, that I loved the game, the story was well told, with interesting characters.
The problem is, that while there was a lot of potential in the combat system, how you have to build a deck based on what units you have available, especially regarding your companions, all is wasted, because the AI is terrible, and even the enemy decks are terrible, even on the hardest difficulty.
There are minor moral choices, which are presented well, from a storytelling aspect, eg. fight some bandits, because they are terrorizing the locals, or don't fight them, because we need all the strength for the war, but the battles are not only way too easy, they don't have any effect on your army. You either win, and continue on as if nothing had happened, despite the story going on about heavy losses, or (somehow) loose, and Game Over, so you try the battle again, until you win. It would've been much more interesting, if every non story battle were to use some of your resources, and if you loose, you still continue on, but loose even more resources. That way those choices would mean something.
Also, the way the resource gathering works is just mobile-game busywork, and at the end i walked around with 60000 gold with nothing to spend it on, so the other kind of moral choices, where you can eg. buy things from peasants with money, or take it with force also became meaningless.
Despite all this, as I said I recommend the game, maybe wait for a sale, but the story really caries it.
