Description
Welcome to Thimbleweed Park. Population: 80 nutcases.

A haunted hotel, an abandoned circus, a burnt-out pillow factory, a dead body pixelating under the bridge, toilets that run on vacuum tubes... you’ve never visited a place like this before.

Five people with nothing in common have been drawn to this rundown, forgotten town. They don’t know it yet, but they are all deeply connected. And they’re being watched.

...Who is Agent Ray really working for and will she get what they want?
...What does Junior Agent Reyes know about a 20 year old factory fire that he’s not saying?
...Will the ghost, Franklin, get to speak to his daughter again?
...Will Ransome the *Beeping* Clown ever become a decent human being?
...Will aspiring game developer Delores abandon her dreams and stick by her family?
...And most importantly: how come no one cares about that dead body?

By the end of a long, strange night in Thimbleweed Park, all of this will be answered -- and you’ll question everything you thought you knew.

In a town like Thimbleweed Park, a dead body is the least of your problems.

A good game, but...

I was thinking a lot about this rating. I wanted to give this a 4/5 but the game reeks of arrogance. Even if this game was perfect its creators shouldn't sh*t on other games and/or companies. The metafiction is also too much. I don't want to hear lectures on designing games while the game isn't designed properly. For example: There are many occasions when it is obvious what needs to be done, but I just can't do it at that moment, because some other unrelated event hasn't happened yet! (I don't want to spoil anything, but you'll see). The casual mode is also broken. I was ~25% through the game when I realized that most items aren't necessary and I have no use for them (they would have been useful for hard mode). I didn't want to lose my progress, but this way I had to carry a lot of useless junk around. All in all, this is a good game, it will give you at least 15 hours of fun, but it is nowhere near classics like Grim Fandango or even games like Gemini Rue.

Collect 10 more specks of dust

A proper modern classic take on the point and click genre. Only negative was the mildly disappointing ending. Totally recommended.

Superb game

Just finished the game and I must say - I did not expect such a treat. I was, I'm big fan of classic adventures and this is really goes another step. it takes proven and working concepts and brings a new ones, improving the whole experience. Also the story works really well and the ending just left me really touched and speechless. My big recommendation for every adventure fan, but I'm sure it would work for somebody as first experience with this kind of game as well :o)

Strong start that gradually falls apart

The game starts out strong for the first 3 chapters, a game containing mysteries and lots of dialogue options. It got me hooked on wanting to not only progress and find out more but also explore in depth the locations in ThimbleWeed Park. I like the pixel graphical style of the game, there are times where it shinesmore than others such as under the bridge where the body is found. After chapter 3 the games starts to decline in both the story and the where the focus of the game is put. The game pays too much attention to (as other reviews mention) fourth wall breaking, meta jokes and critizing other game developers despite the developers making a game that also has it's flaws. It feels like suddenly one character Delores, is all that matters as most of what you have to do to continue the story now centres on her. The other characters particularly the agents feel reduent after this. Losing their ability to shine as characters. This is reflected come chapter 6 as this same premisis now continues and the dialouge options you have with characters in the town run out. Interactions also give the same dialogue from each character losing their uniqueness and personallities. It certainly feels like the developers of the game lost their passion and drive to develop the game as it progressed and ended up dropping the strong plot lines from the start of the game and leaves them unsolved by the end. The ending confirms that the developers had no interest remaining in this game and without saying it, they ruled out there being a possibility of a sequal. A game With 5 different characters that end up going down one path, where one of the five selected by the developers, is the only character that matters to the mid-late story. The game had great potentional at the start and the opportunity was there to create a unique and interesting story but this did not materalize, instead the story gradually collasping and the developers going for a bland and disappointing ending.

My daughter fell in love with this game

I got this game from the initial kickstarter quite a while back (2017 I guess?) and enjoyed it, but I recently thought I'd show it to my 5 y.o daughter and she has fallen in love with it. She had previously tried games like "Maniac Mansion" and "Sam 'n' Max Hit the Road" and found them very enjoyable. So when thinking of what to let her try next, "Thimbleweed Park" came back to my mind. We started by playing the 'Easy Mode', and she really immersed herself in it, and it was hard to pull her away, she was enjoying all the story-telling and puzzle-solving. ...and then we finished the game... and she got teary-eyed and emotional, telling me she didn't want the game to end, and she missed all the characters! We re-visited the game this week, playing the 'Hard Mode' this time. As we were about to finish the game today, she restrained herself from pushing in the last tube, telling me (teary-eyed once more), "I don't want the game to end" again :) With a bit of coaxing, I finally convinced her to push in that tube and end the game and she got very emotional once more :) I asked her which mode she liked more? She said the "Hard Mode", as she liked that the story was longer and had more puzzles to solve (but she still didn't like that the story ended :D). I asked her what her favourite character was. I assumed she would say Delores, but she surprised me and she said she liked Ransome the most :) She even wrote her own apology letter (on behalf of Ransome) saying "I am sorry for being a bad clown" :) Anyways, just writing this review to say thanks to the creators, you created a warm, lovable set of characters that my daughter connected with very closely, thank you :)
