Best stealth game I could find. The only exception might be the sequel however i have not beaten it yet. No question about it, It's a must play

If you play this today, you can get lost easily if you aren't used to the type of game this is. However if you are into exploration and tense stealth you will enjoy this game a bunch. I have been playing on expert myself to get the greatest experience, you should do the same if you want a great experience. Stealth games today just don't hold up like this does. On the other side, this game isn't perfect. If you aren't careful you can get lost in some of the levels. The AI can get a tad buggy sometimes but for the most part it is just fine. It can get frustrating if you get spotted and you haven't saved in a while. Honestly this is well worth the price and even if it was $20 I'd be willing to buy it. It is a great pick up and play if you are even slightly into stealth games.

Thief may not have good graphics, but it has awesome sound effects. This was the first, and almost the only game that makes use of positional sound as a gameplay mechanic. I mean, when playing with headphones, you can close your eyes and sense the guard's positions by hearing only. Multiply that by great voice acting. Play on hard (non-lethal) mode to get the most out of Thief.

One of the best stealth games I played period.

... still the second best sneak game ever. The graphics are more ugly, the controls more difficult, there's more fighting, the missions less spacious, the plot a little less excellent... but nothing really detracts from the sheer fun experience of sneaking around and stealing EVERYTHING along to a good soundscape, voice-acting and lots of little details that give the setting depth. Now we only need Thief2!
