Short but fun!

This only took me an afternoon to complete but this remastered version plays very well with controller support and updated graphics! Good sound effects and gameplay but it's a little dated which is to be expected. A few minor bugs here and there but nothing major. Recommended!

Awesome job NIghtdive!

Pretty much everyone is already saying it, faithful to the original and looks greak. About halfway through and nothing new broken and plenty of old things fixed.

Not Much Has Changed

As a fan of the film and having played the original Xbox release of 'The Thing', I was both surprised and interested when I heard a remake was happening. Reviews after release were largely positive and I was most happy to hear they "fixed" the broken scripted nature of squadmates turning. Now I pick it up, start playing and find the latter is only a half truth and the core issues that kept it firmly planted as a mildly decent budget title still remain all these years later. Bottom line? This isn't worth $30+ and a revisit for those who've already played it. Graphics get a bump, but we're talking more of a clean-up job than visual revolution. The sound design remains the same as I remember it. Decent voicework, sound effects, but nothing stellar. Gameplay is still the simple mix of staying alive and light inventory management. Rather flat characters in a story that somehow manages to be predictable and go off the rails near the end. If you've read this far and didn't play this title the first time around and/or are a big fan of the 1982 pic then don't let me stop you from picking this up. Might I recommend waiting until it's on sale though. For those who've already given it a playthrough know the squadmate "fix" means some still turn in the same spots due to plot and the others are forced to panic and kill you or themselves instead. Hardly a real fix. Take the high review scores with a grain of salt and know it's nostalgia or FOMO because of the movie. Not because this is a world class remake.

Huge Props to the Develpoers!

I was a huge fan of the 2002 version and I'm super happy with the game's remaster. The changes and updates made it much more accomidating to modern gaming. huge quality of life upgrades. I cant praise the developers enough. I always thought the game looked great back then but the over haul to the graphics is also nice. Also getting rid of the scripted infections and the dissapering squad member bugs was so nice. Also ver nice touch on adding Naul,s corpse to the opening level. Loved that because you never see his fate in the 1982 movie (My Favorite Movie!). I Can't recommend this enough!

Its a good remaster but story meh

I must say, i never saw the original movie but i loved the first half of the game. But the second half of the story, is where it feeled really boring and repativite. i hated the levels in the base, i wished they really did build up or expanded like the first half of the story. At some points, it was senseless to help the other surviors or give them weapons. They always were doomed to get killed.
