The Settlers® 2: Gold Edition

Man I spent a long time playing this back in the day. And I don't even think I ever won it! It was just so much fun playing it. Finding out how best to build up your village and expand. One thing I did love about this game was the chance based combat. Normally I hate chance based combat, but in this game, something just makes me love it. You see your little soldier go out and fight an enemy and you're just fixed, staring at the screen and hoping for victory. If he wins you yelp with joy, but if he loses you're sad. Love it! :)

If you liked the original civilization building games in DOS like SimCity and SimCity2000, then this is a step up. Not just buildings but a working island with your little settlers (I like to think of them as my mini slaves) running around doing what you tell 'em, build a mill, make bread, dig for gold or slaughter them pigs for food, one click of the mouse and they hop right to it. hours and hours of fun invading and pilaging with this game, Provide for your people and watch your island grow to a thriving, rich conquring civilization. let the battles begin!! Obviously the graphics will be in Old School DOS so don't expect to be blown off your seat with a 3D masterpiece but for addiction and playability (not sure thats a proper word) 6/10 for this one. Well worth the download folks.

In my opinion this is the best game out of all the settlers range. After settlers 2 the game gets more complicated and harder to play so to me less enjoyment. I downloaded this game for windows 7 and its so easy to download, install and play. Gog.com have taken all the hardwork out of getting this game onto your pc. 10/10 best and easiest game i have downloaded. Enjoy the game folks fond memories

Well it's really hard to explain what this game means to me. It was my first time Real Time-Strategy I think, and since that time (~13 years ago) this is my number one RTS game. You must try it, it's a feeling to play for hours an a map...:) The world is pretty good (the game was released in 1996), you must change the environment and improve your empire; plant and cut trees, produce stone, iron, coal, gold and make thing from this. You must food yourself and you animals, and you should pay to your soldiers (with gold and beer too ;)) In my opinion this game is really great!

I am so happy that I can legally own this game on my Windows 7. Thanks GOG!
