The Settlers® 2: Gold Edition

The one and the only Settlers game (to be fair - this one + 10th Anniversary edition) which can be played for ages! Building colony and managment your goods is far more realistic than in newer versions of the series. But... (there's always one) - it has few very annoying bugs, which can disgust game. All in all - it's one of the best games.

This was kinda my first real game alongside Baldurs Gate. I played so many hours settlers, can´t count that shit. It brought me so much fun, easily the best game in the series 10/5 stars

One of the best games I have played. Not for the impatient.

I gave a five-star rating for nostalgia purposes as well as because I feel this game deserves a five-star rating. As the title of my review states, GOG's initial DOSBox configuration files make the game look weird on my HD system. I have the original game and run it through a downloaded copy of DOSBox and the intro video fills my whole screen, as does the main menu—this makes the dated jpg/bmp backgrounds look better than GOG's settings do; this fit to screen that DOSBox does 'out of the box' is fantastic compared to GOG's custom settings, which make the game look more worse than it really should. I have taken the time to go through GOG's custom DOSBox configuration files and alter them slightly to get that original look and feel that I get from running DOSBox, mounting my C: and D:, and then running the game that way. My main complaint with this GOG version is mostly just an aesthetic thing. Otherwise, this game is one of the greatest classics anyone could ever own!
