The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass is available here

The Outer Worlds is an award-winning single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division.

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

KEY FEATURES

The player-driven story RPG

In keeping with the Obsidian tradition, how you approach The Outer Worlds is up to you. Your choices affect not only the way the story develops; but your character build, companion stories, and end game scenarios.

You can be flawed, in a good way

New to The Outer Worlds is the idea of flaws. A compelling hero is made by the flaws they carry with them. While playing The Outer Worlds, the game tracks your experience to find what you aren't particularly good at. Keep getting attacked by Raptidons? Taking the Raptiphobia flaw gives you a debuff when confronting the vicious creatures, but rewards you with an additional character perk immediately. This optional approach to the game helps you build the character you want while exploring Halcyon.

Lead your companions

During your journey through the furthest colony, you will meet a host of characters who will want to join your crew. Armed with unique abilities, these companions all have their own missions, motivations, and ideals. It's up to you to help them achieve their goals, or turn them to your own ends.

Explore the corporate colony

Halcyon is a colony at the edge of the galaxy owned and operated by a corporate board. They control everything... except for the alien monsters left behind when the terraforming of the colony’s two planets didn’t exactly go according to plan. Find your ship, build your crew, and explore the settlements, space stations, and other intriguing locations throughout Halcyon.

Little to no replayability

When I played this game the very first time, I was amazed as to how good it was. The game is GORGEOUS but the story itself is meh. The replayability? Even less. You either chose to side with the corpos or not. That's it. It didn't have any romance but I don't really care about that (Funny to see the male Gamers™ losing their mind because the only "attractive" and interesting "female" they want to date doesn't want to date their male character lmao. My dudes, she doesn't want to date our female characters either. She already has a crush on someone else. You know, like how it happens in real life. This game was never going to have any romance for our MC so I don't know why you are all so surprised. Also I am tired of male Gamers™ constantly writing about how "ugly" the "females" are. This is a dystopian world where people are valued on how many hours they can put into their work. Do you think these WOMEN have time to put on makeup and look pretty for anyone? Do you think the men on this game look any better? Bet you don't see them saying THAT. Gamers, stop believing that because the game has "from the creators of your favorite game" that means that the game will be exactly like that one. Companies can put "from the creators of..." even if they only have 2 people from the old team. You guys put the expectative on your mind that this was going to be like Fallout or even better and when Obsidian didn't deliver, you lost your mind. Anyways, its a good game if you're bored, have literally no other FPS/RPG to play and don't mind the non-replayability of it... also wait for the game to go on discount.

Biolands

I just finished Disco Elysium before playing The Outer Worlds. So I shoot everyone before they start talking :) I finished it in 3 days and going to play again immediately. Played on Hard. Gunplay here is OK as in other games in Unreal Engine (but could be better). A lot of fresh game mechanics. Skills, perks and other RPG elements was not impressive because you can't become ultimate killing machine with Guns skills maxed. Stealth skill help you to trespass but not to insta-kill. Inventory management is annoying. Slow-mo mode is V.A.T.S. not Bullet time. I recommend to buy it on sale if you like Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands and Fallout New Vegas. The game could be a bit longer and there is no freeplay after the end.

Short game

Bought this elsewhere before it was on GOG. Not a bad RPG, as far as it goes, but the vanilla game without DLCs is short, especially if you're used to large open worlds in the Bethesda style. This one lasts about 30 hours per playthrough, even if you're a completist, must open that door, must see what's in that container, type, like me. This seriously limits replayability. Added to that, there are a series of pinch points you have to go through to get from one map section to another, so it has a more linear feel than it needed to have. Btw, the 30 hour point is not just my feeling; I saw a whole subreddit topic about it.

The Outer Worlds

Many of realistic RPG games look like realistic dreams - most like nightmares, and they are in high demand (probably novadays not enough real horrors). But some, like Outer Worlds, are beautiful dreams, there are no really bad guys in the game colonist's world. People just try to make their living, they are restricted by corporate rules, make not the best choices. And here you come, and easily convince them to do right things. You kill some banditos around, implement technical solutions, improve infrastructure, and gain respect and reputation. But there is one evil thing in this game - the Corporation, and I know it from inside - it's truth, from times when Corporations divided world by DVD codes by regions, till now, when overheated fast USB drives burn your fingers, and DRMs watching your private gaming and slow down CPUs. Regarding Outer Worlds, it runs just perfect and smooth, with high FPS.
