Description
Lose yourself in a tale of magic and wonder, where anything is possible and where nothing is quite what it seems: join young Jerry and follow a peculiar white rabbit to the wondrous realm of Mousewood, a land where critters can speak and where mystery abounds.

It is here that Jerry’s dream of being a magician comes true, though a haunting, sinister force casts a long shadow over the forest. Someone offers the residents of Mousewood a deal of their lifetime - tickets to the greatest magic show that the world has ever seen. But the price is steep, as they'll have to bet their houses, their money… and their lives.

As the shadows grow deeper, the residents of Mousewood have only Jerry to turn to. On an adventure full of laughter and tears, joy and fear, the young boy will face the ultimate trial, leaving behind the world he once knew, and his childhood, too, will become a thing of the past.
  • It’s a story-driven exploration/adventure from Matthias Kempke, who believes that game design is all about creating new worlds to be explored by players.
  • Multi-layered story that starts out light-hearted and funny, but which shifts to a dramatic and thought-provoking tone over the 20 hours of gameplay.
  • The animal people who populate the game were originally developed in short stories written by game creator; these stories are included as the in-game bonuses.

Enjoyable fairytale

I really liked this game. It has good graphics, sound, puzzles, characters and story and is quite long. It's based around a 12 year old boy in a fairytale type world, so it might not be for everyone, but I really recommend it. Just be aware that at the end of game there's an optional combat scene, which can freeze the game when doing something incorrectly. Either skip this part (there's a button for that), or avoid doing this specific action.

Beautiful

This game is beautiful; it contains everything I look for in an adventure game. It's storytelling is superb and it has an imagination. This game comes packed with fun, adventure, and heart. After all that, it still manages to go the extra mile, with hidden objects and un-lockable extras. This game is one of my favorite adventure games. If I had to pick something negative to say about the game... I would have to say it can be a bit glitchy in some parts. A few times the main character disappeared behind a texture. The puzzles aren't very logical, but this game is not set in a logical world. If you like lighthearted entertainment, this is a must buy.

Good enough to spend snowy evening

As I focused more on aesthetics, I've bought this game once I saw screenshots and wasn't disappointed. It is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, with brilliant drawings, very nice story to tell the player and good soundtrack. Story is focused on a 12 yo boy at the last days of his summer break. He receives a letter, that appeared in thin air with a ritual to summon a friend. When he completes a ritual, Marquis de Hoto comes to him - a giant rabbit, taller than the boy. He says that boy (who is into magic tricks) can become a might magician, traveling between worlds and helping others. And he will be home by dinner! After that, he invites Jerry Hazelnut to Mousewood where he will learns new spells and learn to help people... well, not people - habitats in need. I would enjoy even watching this story as a cartoon, but this is also a game. Point-and-click quest, what I liked since times of Myst III, Neverhood, Freddy Fish etc. And this is where most games fail: it is incredibly difficult to make all puzzles logical enough so that the solution wouldn't be clicking on every point around with all you have in your inventory. Well, mostly they succeeded, but sometimes player must guess and spend lot of time solving really stupid puzzle. As for bugs, I've found 3: boy can walk on destroyed stick in the house of Aro, if one clicks too many times at the hole in the floor at the end, he will stuck and will have to restart, and one can stay after end credits if he talks to someone at the moment they must end. A little bit raw game, but still so pretty drawn, with such a good story and music, that I can't give it anything but 5 stars.

Odd Game

Did you ever play a game and thought it was way too short? This one is not one of those. I thought I was near the end about 4 different times. And even at the end it kept going so I was still not sure it was finished. This game seemed as if they told multiple people to go develop a part of the game with just an overview of the story and then someone smashed them together. The art work, cut scenes and story line seemed to bear this out. It is not a bad game. I did think some of the characters' dialogues went on forever and some of the solutions were rather far fetched. But all in all I was entertained but think it could have been better if edited.

Lost without a walkthrough

Too many places you were left without any clear indication of what you should do - the journal is useless as an indicator of what you've experienced and what you were expected to have learned. A lot of the time I felt like I was expected to be amazed at the cleverness of the convoluted minds of the designers.
