Description
Lose yourself in a tale of magic and wonder, where anything is possible and where nothing is quite what it seems: join young Jerry and follow a peculiar white rabbit to the wondrous realm of Mousewood, a land where critters can speak and where mystery abounds.

It is here that Jerry’s dream of being a magician comes true, though a haunting, sinister force casts a long shadow over the forest. Someone offers the residents of Mousewood a deal of their lifetime - tickets to the greatest magic show that the world has ever seen. But the price is steep, as they'll have to bet their houses, their money… and their lives.

As the shadows grow deeper, the residents of Mousewood have only Jerry to turn to. On an adventure full of laughter and tears, joy and fear, the young boy will face the ultimate trial, leaving behind the world he once knew, and his childhood, too, will become a thing of the past.
  • It’s a story-driven exploration/adventure from Matthias Kempke, who believes that game design is all about creating new worlds to be explored by players.
  • Multi-layered story that starts out light-hearted and funny, but which shifts to a dramatic and thought-provoking tone over the 20 hours of gameplay.
  • The animal people who populate the game were originally developed in short stories written by game creator; these stories are included as the in-game bonuses.

A very undercooked game

Honestly, I'd prefer to rate this one a 2/5 on account of how little of it landed right, but in trying to be objective I'll break the 3 stars down: 1/5 - the game works, I haven't experienced any technical issues, the menus work and the UI is responsive 2/5 - there is a game to play through here. A lot of characters to meet, and events to take part in. All eventually ends in only half a story being told, but setting many foundations for a beautiful small world nonetheless. 3/5 - the art is coherent and sticks to clear style, if nothing else, this game sure looks fine. Knocking back two stars because the story just isn't all there, and it has negative impact on gameplay. Even the foundation of the story has cracks in it, and many events are lacking coherent through line. Sense of urgency is created and lost, dangers and character motivation are confusing, and many questions are left frustatingly unanswered in a clear sequel bait. The world bounces in scale along with the stakes, and in all that incoherency the classic feeling of "what do I do? why?" crept in more than once. While I won't spoil the ending, it pulls a sharp turn that unfortunately is so removed from the idyllic little critter town that I was suffering whiplash all the way until the credits rolled. I don't recommend this game at all, but it does do some things right. Exhaust other options before giving this one a shot.

Outstanding and beautiful

I have played point and click games for more than 20 years and have tons of favorite games. But this is the first time I can say that a game stands out from all my other favorite games. Normally you start a game and then there are some things you will have to do to progress in the game and that means walking around back and forth a lot and sometimes getting stuck because you miss something and then finally you can get on with the story. And that is just it you have a story to follow and get to the end like a board game. I never had a problem with that and know some people prefer it this way or maybe they are so used to that is how a game should be that it feels wrong if it's not that way. With this game it more like an open story where there is so much to do, so many to talk to without it being boring and so many places to go so you forget the story and forget about an ending and just enjoy the game and the exploring. There are so many things you have to do so you feel like walking isn't in vain. Not only is there the things you need to do to get on with the story but you have to solve things for the inhabitants and help them out and on top of that there are several things for you to collect for yourself like stickers and cards and stuff. At least for me it never gets boring and yet I find that the puzzles are just right. The artwork is beautiful, the voice acting great, the music is really nice to not to use the word beautiful again and the controls are easy. The humor is good too though you may not be rolling around on the floor laughing. And to get back to the controls these are the easiest I have had yet in a game. They even have a special way of introducing the controls in the beginning of the game that is different than normally. I have now played for 6 hours and have not been bored or stuck even once. And I don't have one negative thing to say about this game. If your goal is game play and not reaching an ending you should buy this game.

This game drew me in!

First off, I do not usually take time to write reviews for games, but I felt a need to do so for this one. I am an old Sierra fanboy, and it is hard for me to get into some of the more modernized point and click adventure games. I really enjoyed this one. It had a great story which kept a great balance between fun and witty, and just the right amount of darkness to draw you in. The cutscenes were also very well done, and had me just as intrigued as I was while playing the actual game. The mechanics were fine for me (double clicking the path arrows will instant transmit you to the next area, and ESC will allow you to skip certain things that take long like switching night to day just as a helpful tip). This game does take a while as it took me about 13 hours to complete, but there was really no point where I did not enjoy playing it, and even found myself wanting to dedicate more time to finishing it when I would take breaks. I am now looking into other games from this developer. Great job Daedalic Entertainment!

Beautiful game

The game looks beautiful, has great soundtrack and nice story (I liked it's subtle pro ecology message which is mentioned by the way, not in your face). I really liked that many locations have 2 different versions: day and nighttime. Magic spells are nice addition to traditional puzzles, too. The optional quartets card game is really nice even for someone like me who just doesn't like playing cards. The one thing I don't dig is that some puzzles require more of a moon logic than common sense. And if you're achievement hunter, the amount of hidden things to collect (dew drops, stickers, cards) could be a bit tedious to complete.

Lovely discovery

Just got this on a special offer, and played it through in >7 hours (with aide of a runthrough, I admit). Nice story with a good wit. Really liked it!
