So much heart into
It's a classical point and click adventure with a lot of story (and long dialoges), nice drawn backgrounds and good voiceover. in the beginning it seems like pretty normal, but later it becomes kind of beeing inside a complex fairytale. luckily april ryan, the protagonist, keeps a diary for not loosing the overview. Some riddles are not logical, so its normal beeing stucked sometimes.

I'm going slightly mad...
With so many reviews gushing over this game, I thought I had lost my mind. So I kept playing, waiting for that moment where everything would make sense and I'd rue they day I stooped down to using a walk trough... But no. This is not the way to tell a story: long, I mean really long, excruciatingly tedious, expository dialogue about lists of irrelevant whatevers. Puzzles with little common sense that even inside the narrative are rarely solved smoothly: there's always something not working as it should and an additional random thing to click is required. No fist pumps, just exasperated "are we there yet?". April has no real connection to any of the characters, they are either forgettable or cringe-y, often rude and contemptuous. At least one can click and experiment at will and won't get trapped in places missing important objects or brake the puzzles or give wrong answers. MVPs: - Right Mouse Button in conversation to to skip sentences - ESC to skip animations e.g. the long walks/run across the scenery - ScummVM 2.6.1 to play the game smoothly on Windows 10 and even on Android - Universal Hint System

Great writing and great design
I've played it for a bit in 2005, when I was about 10 years old. Ever since then, I felt a longing to come back to it. I'm honestly so glad I did. It's even greater than I remembered. Great story, great music, great design and atmosphere. 5/5

Good adventure game, technical problems
We start this adventure with a fantastical dream of our protagonist, April Ryan, an art student who recently moved to the city New Port to continue her studies. A dream that involves strange landscape, a dragon, a talking tree, and an ominous dark storm. Despite her recurring strange dreams, she tries to continue to live a normal life, working on her art project and working a small job. Those very dreams started bleeding into her reality. With the guidance of a mysterious Latin-American man, Cortez, the hunt for answers begins. Thus starts our adventure with our unlikely protagonist in her journey in familiar yet distinct worlds. The game is a point-and-click adventure that is very dialogue-heavy, with a strong emphasis on story, both on a personal level and in terms of world-building, the pacing however can be all over the place. One problem with the point and click game is that the puzzles may defy logic at times and can require a guide. I overall enjoyed the game but with some caveats, it is a product of its time. Now to the technical part, this game may be unplayable on modern OS. The game crashes on startup, can display missing files, and even if it manages to launch, other issues may still occur. So the game is likely required to be set up with a virtual machine, SCUMMVM. I do hope these issues are handled properly by GOG.
