Soooo much potential

Adequate graphics and sound, good scaling (damage and attributes), simple quests that did not bug out on my two playthroughs to level 100, bad animations, graphics settings switch to "low" on their own sometimes. In general, I would be happy to recommend it if it were not for these two heavy flaws: 1. baaad flickering on some volumetric lightning effects, bordering on seizure-inducing, seriously. When maps don't have a lot of those effects and the textures/areas don't flicker, it plays quite smoothly. I've tried every permutation in the graphics options and the vga driver - nothing makes any difference. 2. the character aims (selects targets) on its own "AI" terms - meaning, your cursor is not really relevant (and not very visible anyway). You can't place shots where you want them, piercing is chance-based and only on a few skills, so you are practically entirely robbed of control and can shoot only in enemies' general direction. Playing the three original games on their own makes no sense when you have/install this version (final cut), which is a plus for me, but maybe not so much for you. All in all - a pity. So much potential wasted because of those aforementioned two issues.

Just what it says on the tin

This is really fun ARPG in the vein of Diablo, Grim Dawn, etc. Lots of different character types and customization. Picked this up on sale at $4.49 and it's an absolute steal at that price!

Decent game with annoying bugs

The gameplay is pretty fun and reminiscent of Diablo 2. The setting and lore are interesting. The Good: Skills are interesting and combat is fun. The story is interesting. The Bad: Mob swarming can distill tactics down to kiting around with the copmanion as a tank. Crafting isn't very intuitive. The Ugly: Network play is still broken with no ability to log into Neocore. There are unfinished or buggy systems (like perk reset). Some reports have gone months unanswered now. The game feels back burnered as they're working on a new title. This game could be a solid 4 stars or more if these issues were ironed out. Right now 3 stars is a little generous, but not by much. It's a solid game at the core brought down by a few annoying bugs and balance issues. At this point I recommend waiting for a decent sale before buying.

Three games stitched into one

My goodness, was I having fun with this one. It's a pretty great Diablo-clone with controller support, fun characters, a unique setting, and several fun classes. Then I hit the second game. Frame-rates tanked from maybe 30fps down to 5 or lower. While I had previously been running medium graphics settings, the game became unplayable even at the lowest settings. The worst part is that there's no noticeable graphic improvements between the first and second game. The developers just didn't put as much time into making it actually run. I'm very disappointed. I was really looking forward to seeing how Van Helsing and Katarina's story turned out.

Good and bad

This game has a lot going for it, but also a lot going against it. The nice things: * Very nice graphic * Huge and lengthy story * Nice powers and good variety of monsters * Brilliant companion full of humour * Nice levelling up: you feel your power increase... smoothly. * Good variety of environments * Nice atmosphere * Deep item mechanics: re-forge/enchant/improve The bad things * Enemies mobs you too much: ** Not much tactics if not running away a bit to keep them busy, leaving your companion bashing them ** You can't appreciate the nice graphics ** You don't understand what's going on * Way too many enemies in a single level: it get repetitive after a while * Sometimes you loose your health so quickly you don't have time to use a potion * The crafting mechanics are a bit random: you think to create something powerful, but end up with crap * Lots of skills seems useless and progression is not clear: highest level skills seems ... weaker?
