Grab your weapons and embark on an incredible adventure in the gothic-noir world of Borgovia, where mad science threatens the peace between monsters and mortals. Save the day with your charming companion, Lady Katarina (who happens to be a ghost). Explore the wilderness and the grim districts of a metropolis twisted by weird science, and don’t forget: you might never know who the real monsters are! The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut is the definite collection of three stand-alone episodes told as one continuous story, with six playable classes and a new endgame mode with a huge variety of open missions!
Enter a memorable gothic-noir universe – Explore Borgovia, the land of monsters, magic and weird science.
Over 50 hours gameplay in the campaign – Play through a refreshingly unique story, spiced up with wry humor and snappy dialogue.
Specialists needed! – Choose from six playable classes, each of them a specialist of the monster-hunting profession. Defeat your foes with steel and gun, master the art of weird science or take control over the forces of magic and shadows.
Huge variety of skills – The huge and complex skill tree, unique to each class, gives you a vast range of opportunities to make good use of your chosen class.
Action-packed adventures – Fight fierce battles against supernatural foes with diverse skills and abilities.
Rage system – You can charge up to three skill modifiers called PowerUps by spending Rage points collected from impressive feats.
Lady Katarina – Use the special abilities and tailor the skills of your remarkable follower.
Hunter’s Lair – Build and develop your hideout to stash collected loot, trade with non-playable characters, teleport between locations and forge new items.
Tower defense mini-game – With enemies invading in waves, you have the opportunity to defend your Lair and other strategic locations with deployable traps and several upgradable functions to ward off evil.
New level cap – Reach level 100 and evolve further in the endgame featuring a Glory system, rare items and two types of unique endgame currency.
Scenarios – Play scenario maps with randomly generated terrains, monsters, objectives and special conditions.
Never a dull day in Borgovia – Try the daily quests, challenges and weekly events that will give you new missions and long hours of entertainment after the campaign.
Multiplayer – Become the greatest monster slayer of all time while playing in one of the cooperative or PvP multiplayer modes (4-player co-op mode, Touchdown, Arena or Battle Royal).
I am currently going through all the parts for the fourth time (the first part is the best).
Fighting gives you a lot of satisfaction, the locations are beautiful and atmospheric, the music is wonderful.
And Katarina. Without her, this game would not be the same. Great character.
I would highly recommend for you this game. If you are H&S games fan, you will not be disappointed
Good game, even though the companion leveling up is quite slow, the game crashes from now and then, the further you go the harder it is to find better items than you already have and the adventure map part is broken in the higher levels, it is almost impossible to play any of the adventure map levels.
Cons:
Bad voice acting that took me out of the immersion...like they didnt take it seriously beyond Van Helsing and Katerina. Major lapse by the developers.
Always mobs and no other types of attacks on you. Gets old. Seems too arcade like. Since combat is a major part of the game this was a big deal. It just got boring.
After these 2 cons I just wasnt invested in spending hours into the game building characters. I uninstalled it. Life is short.
Pros:
Excellent art and graphics
Great Music
DISCLAIMER: This is the review ot the FIRST part! It doesn't have it's own store page, so I have to post it here, I guess.
I decided to take a look at this so-called "Diablo-clones". It was ok at first - even fun. But after several hours, I realized that I did not receive any pleasure while playing in this game.
After five hours(or so) you can see all the pros and cons, so let's take a look:
1)Graphics. This is Diablo-clon, so it doesn't need to be all so beautiful, so I guess graphics is fine.
2)Music. Good instrumental style. BUT! After 5 hours I realized, that I became tired of it. I turned on what was on my hard drive - aaaand it really extended life of the game for me. So the music is not so good - maybe waaaaay to repetitive at least.
3)Technical environment. Someone says it's buggy - don't know, everything worked fine for me.
4)Gameplay. It's ..............FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU! It's repeating over and over with no changes but amount of enemies. And what's more horrible - you don't affect enemy in any visual way - just in numbers. I mean - you(I mean Van Helsing) just waves his sword and that's all! You can't feel nothing at all.
Also I have to say that there is a lot of loot(randomly generated items, depending on your level, i guess) but it's useless. Only 10% of it was like - "...meeeeh...okay, I will take it".
5)Plot. You know, after all, that I said above - plot looks not as terrible, as it seems.
In conclusion, I have to say, that I'm usually trying to complete at least main plot and several side quests in game that I don't like. But here I can't even force myself to complete main story - such a waste of time it will be. And I feel sorry for it - the game could have potential and instead I feel insulted cause now it's awfully boring candy in very yummy wrapper.
Oh, almost forgot - Katarina - maybe the only part, that was awfully good and actually lighten the atmosphere of "Unavoidable boredom" that is yet to come.
P.S.
I hope I did not offend anyone.;)
My favourite game of the genre. Great progression system, distinct classes. And oh my God, a customisable difficulty system? I can adjust it however I want!? So I don't need to spend 20 hours one shotting everything on easy difficulty before I encounter the first challenge!?!? Finally!
Was an easy 5/5, but then you hear how one of the major characters in the game - Perun - is pronounced as Pee Run. And you hear it A LOT.
Disagree if you want, but this is my review I do honestly think this is enough to lower the rating by 1, because you just can't take this grim world and its story seriously anymore when you hear 'pee run' multiple times in a dialogue. And storytelling is an important part of this game, so yeah.
My other complaint is the multitude of collection quests where you need to seach the area to collect tiny gray items on a gray background, and sometimes you are required to find ALL of them, so you can't miss even one! :)
The game's tone is also all over the place. No spoilers, but in one mission, the narration ends on a depressing note about how many soldiers died in vain. The next mission is literally named 'Saving Private Brian'. Ok so we're cracking jokes now?
Apart from that, I feel that the game is longer than it needs to be, especially given its huge replayability (though that's subjective) and I find Katarina too b*tchy and annoying, but I suppose that's subjective too.
And these are ALL the complaints I have about this game, which should make it clear why I think it's so great.
The character progression system is pure gold. The best I've ever seen in a game. Be it early game or late game, you constantly unlock fun things to add to your arsenal. And I don't mean some +0,1% crit bonuses. I mean actual skills that change your gameplay.
