Are you ready to dive into a tactical RPG chock-full of charm, humor and crazy characters?!

They are clumsy, inexperienced and feisty but...they’ll have to endure each other’s company to get the dungeon’s treasure.

However, a feeling of déjà-vu quickly arises...

Guide this team of unlikely heroes in an adventure full of humor and chaos!

The Naheulbeuk universe is an original creation by French author John Lang. It started as a very popular audio comedy series parodying role-playing games and heroic fantasy tropes. Now the story is available in English and as a video game for the first time!

Game features

  • Play with seven classic role-playing game characters complementing each other’s skills as you level them up: the Ranger, the Elf, the Dwarf, the Magician, the Ogre and the Thief!

  • Every member of the team has their own skill tree to upgrade their abilities and equipment.

  • Choose one of three additional companions to join the team on their adventure!

  • Exciting turn-based battles, with creative support mechanics between team members.

  • An adaptive difficulty system: from an accessible and fun story mode with simplified combat to the “nightmare mode” where the smallest tactical errors will doom you!

  • An expansive bestiary (more than 100 enemies!) pushing you to think more tactically with every fight.

  • Epic boss battles where you’ll have to muster both strength and smarts to emerge victorious!

  • Hidden and destructive objects (including beer kegs) with surprising status effects will turn the tide of battle for the better...or worse!

  • Explore a huge and surprising dungeon from the cave up to the luxury quarters of the evil lord Zangdar, passing through the goblin iceskating park and even an extremely lively tavern!

  • Escape traps and solve deadly puzzles to unlock the most impressive treasures!

  • Bizarre conversations, absurd situations and unusual encounters await!

  • Experience an exciting main storyline and many side quests for your heroes

A fun dungeon-based game

I enjoyed playing this game. The entirety is in a dungeon that has shops, so it reminded me vaguely of Ultima Underworld and other games in general atmosphere. Combat is fun, and this is the only turn based isometric RPG that I've seen that allows overwatch as an action, which I liked and want to see in more games of this style. There are a few different difficulty options, and the easy one was plenty easy for someone like me who likes playing games, but doesn't have a lot of skill (nor the free time to gain the skill). This game really calls for a New Game Plus mode, which it doesn't have. The possibility for it is even baked into the story. I ran into a few minor bugs or glitches that don't affect gameplay much. For instance every once in a while when I'd launch the game it would crash on launch. Every time though it launched right after when I'd try again. There were a few other things like attacks missing that should have hit or something in combat, can't remember, but it wasn't too often. One warning though for those with misophonia: the elf's heal ability is a kiss that does a loud smooching sound three times in a row. I wish I could have found a mod to silence that, or at least reduce it to one smooch. I ended up taking my headphones off every time I used that ability. Overall, I enjoyed it and would like to play more (expansion or sequel). Just hopefully with a mod or option to silence the elf's smooches.

Excelent roleplay parody

The game is lots of fun, if you're a nerd. Tons of funny references from all fantasy genre you could think of. The pj are the archetype of base characters, like "the barbarian" and you end up loving how they play their role. You could tell the people who made it did it with care, just exploring the details of the various rooms is plenty of fun. The game have some flaws, like bugs, that are being fixed, the difficulty curve could be better, it seems like when you go past a point in the 4th floor, which is pretty hard and you need to do secondary quests first to hope to be able to beat it, the game starts to be pretty easy, and the end boss could be easily defeated if you play it right. Not the other boss though.... I hope there's a sequel, I need to know what the future holds for the Ogre, the true hero of the game for my playthrough.

Could've Been Four Stars With More Work

This game could've been much better with a little more effort. The English translation is... iffy in several respects: Some of the translation is awkward, the UI has missing localizations (which are frankly so easy to spot I wonder how the missed them), the voice acting ranges between excellent (Felicia Day) and awful, if you choose a female narrator the game doesn't take that into account and the characters refer to a male one. The game itself is fairly fun although the combat could've used some more work, specifically it's hard to tell what enemy spells actually do, and there are trap mechanics that aren't explained anywhere etiher. The plot is a bit weak and, obviously is trying to be silly and fun, but is hamstrung by the at times poor translation.

Very good

Don’t let the graphics and the funny tone fool you, this is one of the best tactical RPGs in recent years. You get up to 8 party members and fight lots and lots and lots of turn-based battles against goblins, weirdo cultists, drunken orcs, cursed books, chickens, undead librarians, a demonic game show and anything else that stands in your way. On the higher difficulties the game is HARD, but not unreasonably so, you eventually get better at positioning, skill selection and anticipating the moves ahead. The jokes sometimes land sometimes they don’t but overall the game is pretty funny. If you want a deep story or complex dialogue trees, that’s not here. If you want a good tactical game with a light funny story, this is really a 5/5 experience.

Good fun, but not for all the family!

Good fun, although combat can seem a little harsh, even unfair at times - too many critical misses me thinks. Consequently, I tend to stick to easier levels which helps. Reviews that I've read from the time of release tended to critise the party chit chat as boring or banal, but personally I found it very funny,at least on the initial play- through. Though it is fair to say I'm not a member of the so called 'modern audience' , and therefore not easily offended by sexual innuendo. However, If you are of a more 'sensitive' disposition you may find the party banter a little crude at times. Gameplay is turned based, and you control a party of seven characters including Barbarian, Ogre, Wizard Thief - who? Ranger, Dwarf and Elf. They all have their own unique specialisations as you would expect, though all sharing the pretty standard attributes with some ovbious divergence to the importance of those attributes e.g Strength being far more important to the barbarian than the wizard, Essentially, if you are familar with this genre then it's pretty par for the course. Graphically, the game is 'cartoony' in presentation, but imho, that is in keeping with its source material and that being, well, - a cartoon. For me the game runs very smoothly maxed out 1440p @120Hz on my 7800X3d/6750XT system. So considering the 6750XT is a mid range GPU any mid range rig should run this just fine at some level. During a play-through the player will need to contend with traps, puzzles, and assorted monsters, with some options scaling dependent on difficulty. And finally, I would say that while the game itself takes a light hearted approach to DnD style gameplay, the combat itself can be quite tough, very tough at the harder difficulties, or so I found it. The game has severasl DLC packs available as well as a Dungeon creator add on to expand the game further. Considering all of this can now be purchased at quite a reasonable price, I would recommend this game.
