Description
You are Captain Thomas Welmu, a Spacefleet science officer, lost on the other side of the galaxy. Dark forces are en route to Earth to destroy our planet - and you are carrying the only thing that can stop them.

Race back home across the galaxy. Collect new friends on your journey. Make new enemies. You won't be able to save everyone. Who will you leave behind? Which civilizations will you save - or destroy - along the way? The decisions are all up to you.

You Are... the Captain!

Travel the Galaxy!

Time is ticking. Will you plot the shortest route home or take a detour to use an experimental new technology with a wormhole? Is a distant distress signal worth investigating or should you use your time to raise funds to upgrade your engine?

It's all up to you, Captain.

Explore New Worlds!

Will you interfere with a pre-space civilization? Will you discover the terrible secret at a covert military base? Will you deliver a dying life-form's brain back to its people? Or use it to upgrade your ship?

What Could Go Wrong?

Engage in epic space battles! Or avoid them entirely?

The galaxy is a dangerous place. Will you shower aggressive encounters with a barrage of Type 2 Vacuum Rockets? Or let them taste the wrath of your freshly polished Plasma Gun? ...or will you choose to slip by and hope nobody notices?

Repair and Upgrade Your Ship!

Those pesky pirates have damaged your sweetheart. Should you go cheap and repair her yourself? Or spend the money and let the professionals do it right? Is it time to buy a brand new Shield Buster? Or perhaps a couple of convenient nuclear warheads?

Collect New Friends Or Make New Enemies!

Will you sacrifice a friend for the greater good? Will you rat out an undercover cop for a chance to get home quickly? Will you keep a life-changing truth from someone so they'll hang out and be your friend? Social Engineer Your Way Home.

A Galaxy Full Of tough Choices!

Will you gain access to the vault with explosives or is there a less intrusive way? Will you figure out how to pull off an undercover heist using a new consciousness transmitter? Ever wanted to try escaping an automated maximum-security prison in space? Will you look fabulous in tight pink swimwear?

This game is pure gold!

I am currently ~15h into the game (finished it once, and apart from saving earth, nearly everything else went horribly wrong ;) ), and I must say, so far it is really nice. At the core, this is a classic / retro-style point-and-click adventure (sci-fi theme, of course), with some light elements of resource management and tactical, round-based space combat on top. Add some moral decisions plus alternate endings (on many planets you visit, your decisions and behaviour alter the outcome, so you may end up getting resources OR crew members, or nothing at all). Generally, the more effort you are willing to put into it, the more you will get. Sometimes still, you have a choice to make (and those can have effects at a later point in the game). The writing is truly felicious: It is humorous (resembling classic Sierra adventures), immersive, but can also be quite dark at times: After all, we are at war here. There is intentional replay value: The "mini" endings you unlock on certain occasions can be used on subsequent playthroughs to quickly auto-complete this section, but you certainly will always be on the hunt to get the "best" possible ending. The puzzles can be somewhat intriguing at times, but always fair. So far, I have encountered only two under time-pressure (in the sense that you have to time your actions appropriately). If still something goes wrong, you can always load the latest save state. Space Combat is not highly sophisticated, but can be quite demanding nonetheless: You always know what actions enemy ships will take on the next turn, so you can (and have to) plan ahead accordingly. It is also completely optional. All in all, it looks very polished, and is an enjoyable experience. If you are into sci-fi themed point-and-click adventures, this is a no-brainer; just buy and enjoy :) PS: should a developer read this: I would have liked to be able to get Jonesy (the cat) as a companion, and be it only for flavour ;)

A really nice Point & Click game

I really dig the art style, the mini adventures format and the music. Humor is great and the choices are tough. There is some replay value as well which is unusual for point & click genre. Game is really fun so far, can't wait to return to it.

Outstanding Point-N-Click/Strategy Combo

What a delight. The Captain combines the best of the Sierra/LucasArts/Interplay point-and-click adventures with FTL-esque strategy, ticking-clock, and shipbuilding elements. Like the best of the old-skool point-n-clicks, the graphics are wonderfully polished pixels, the music is outstanding and very atmospheric (headphones recommended), and the writing is on par with the best Infocom text adventures, including lots of oblique references to other sci-fi universes. Some of those references misdirect the player in cheerfully frustrating ways - the crew behind this title are more creative than you think. The real innovation here is that the game is *designed* for multiple playthroughs - getting all of the different endings is a goal unto itself, along with saving Earth, beating the bad guys, reuniting with your family, etc. That might sound tedious, but the quick-ending feature streamlines things immensely - anyone who worked to 100% the Star Trek 25th Anniversary game will appreciate how highly this game values your time. Besides, the universe and its inhabitants are so beautifully realized that more playthroughs to see how things might have gone differently are just as fun as the first run. Linux support is a cherry on top of a superbly-made cake of puzzle-y sci-fi fun. I can't wait to see what Sysiac Games comes up with next. Five Stars for the Captain's cabin door!

Excellent game with lot of replay value

Got this in boxing day and have already done 15 hours, with one complete run so far. Lot of humour and definite tough choices; you really can't save everyone. The unlockable quick endings definitely speeds things up. Some of the puzzles are a bit tough and I had to look up the solutions on line - more in-game hints would be great. Still well worth the price of admission though.

Great sense of adventure & Epic scale

It's really hard to find time to play now and to be engaged / immersed. This is one of few games that gives you great sense of adventure & epic scale. Unlike Fallout or any other RPG games where logically you should follow your main quest (of finding child / father, etc), here all stops / planet visits are reasonable. + Awesome idea with choice cards / automatic saves & skip replayed content - Those funky-town music on landing is killing me - Humor sometimes is to rough for me
