Description
The year is 1962 and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear. A top-secret government unit called The Bureau begins investigating a series of mysterious attacks by an enemy more powerful than communism. As agent Carter, call the shots, pull the trigger and lead your squad in a gripping third-person tactical shooter set within a covert war to protect humanity from an otherworldly enemy.

Light Plasma Pistol
Early Bureau research into outsider weapons technology has yielded promising results in the form of a prototype light plasma pistol. Not as bulky as its Outsider predecessor, this compact weapon fires condensed bolts of plasma and boasts a vastly improved rate-of-fire, giving players an early edge in the secret war for humanity’s survival.

CodeBreakers
A top secret government communications facility responsible for intercepting and decoding the enemy’s transmissions has gone radio-silent. In a desperate attempt to turn the tides of the secret war, Special Agent Carter and his squad must investigate the incident, eliminate any threats, and make contact with personnel in order to bring the facility back online and make sense of the mysterious code.

Hangar 6 R&D
In the days leading up to the events of The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, Agent Nico DaSilva volunteers for a series of dangerous secret experiments to identify and treat a terrifying new pathogen. Maximize your combat skills and push your team to its limits to protect a friend from his own hallucinated terrors.

An very good squad-based shooter

This is a fun and well-made squad-based shooter. The gameplay is fun, while the story is excellent; the writing and development of the main character, in particular, are very well done. Squad control feel like a developed and polished Mass Effect control system, with each character having a skilltree and individual traits. There's plenty of story, missions and shooting to go through. The game did change hands - well, developing studios - many times, and it does show; below the polish, there is a feeling of competing visions. That's why I'm giving it 4/5. Oh, and the game did receive a lot of hate when it was announced; it wasn't its fault. At the time, people (myself included) wanted a strategy UFO/Xcom game, not a shooter. So, this game was hated for not being what we wanted, not for being bad in itself. After Xcom/Xcom2, Xenonauts and UFO: Alien Invasion, that's no longer the case.

Glad this made it to GOG!

Played this when it came out and loved every bit of it... I remember the game getting mixed reviews, but for me, I really enjoyed it... the vibe, the graphics, the gameplay, the XCOM universe, it all just clicked for me. It is an action game, so check out the gameplay videos so you don't go into it thinking it's a traditional XCOM game. For the introductory sale price, you really can't go wrong here! Thanks 2K and thank you GOG! One less thing I have to fire up that other game client for ;)

Sadly overlooked

Played this on the 360. Fun cover-based shooter with a 1950s setting and commands that you can give to AI-teammates. Like most games that bear a franchise name but jump genres, this game was sadly overlooked in favour of the TBS game that came out around the same time. Despite not being in the genre that most players wanted, this is a competent shooter with an original story and a variety of guns and enemy types to interact with. Some of the missions can be quite challenging, but overall I found it a memorable experience thanks in large part to the seldom-used 1950s setting and I would certainly recommend it, particularly when on sale.

the other Agent Carter

This game can best be summed up as "Mafia 2 with aliens". The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is shallow and once you have played through it once you probably won't be back. That said, that one playthrough? It will show you some stunning sights. If it's still 4 bucks when you read this, get it. If it isn't -- wait until it gets discounted again. And, as an aside: whenever developers craft graphics this beautiful for a game with this little gameplay, somewhere out in the world, a kitten sheds a solitary tear.

Leave the X-COM name at the door and you will be fine

Not sure why they tried to put the X-COM name on this, but I am sure it was an attempt to get more sales. If you leave that idea alone, the game 100% is a great game on its own. The only thing it shares with the original X-COM is aliens attacking Earth. Nothing else. It has a totally different alien species attacking Earth actually. The game should have just been called The Bureau. Marketing failure as people went in expecting one thing and got something totally different. In this game, you upgrade your agents with alien powers and you turn into a killing machine by the end... Even though by the end, the enemies are tough. It is a great concept on its own.
